Trinity U.C.C. Builds Rev. Wright $1M Home
TINLEY PARK, Ill. (AP) ― Sen. Barack Obama's Chicago church is buying a $1 million home for its controversial retired pastor who has become a central figure in the Democratic presidential race, records show.

The 10,000-square-foot home in the southern Chicago suburb of Tinley Park features four bedrooms, an elevator, an exercise room and a four-car garage, according to building plans reviewed by the (Tinley Park) SouthtownStar.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who retired from Trinity United Church of Christ last month, purchased the land in 2004 for $345,000, according to property records reviewed by The Associated Press and the Chicago Tribune.

He sold the land to the church two years later, which took out a $1.6 million mortgage on the property and is now listed as the land owner.

So... the church clearly has not repudiated him... yet...

Obama: Had Wright not retired, I'd have left church

(CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama says in an interview that aired on TV Friday that he would have left his church if his pastor had not retired and had not acknowledged making comments that "deeply offended people."

Obama talked about the dispute as it continued to brew over some of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's sermons and comments, which many viewed as anti-American and racist toward whites.

This guy is full of crap yet you refuse to see it.

I know I know... "let it sink"...

whatevah.

1. You do realize that 'truthiness' means something that sounds true but probably isn't, right?

9. You people make me sick
You attack Obama over his Pastor when your own candidate makes up stories over what she did as First Lady. She made the military make bad with her talks that the military would allow the President's wife and daughter in harms way. People who have served are not happy.

What the hell is worse something your friends with says or something you yourself say.

The sad thing is I admire what she did as First Lady there is no reason to make up stories. She was a great First Lady. Why the hell can't she stand on that alone.

11. Politics
Neither candidate can win sufficient elected delegates in the remaining primaries to secure the nomination, and so the battle has moved to winning over the superdelegates. Obama's bogus "race-baiter" strategy is one of the main reasons he has come this far, and it is affecting the process now. But by deliberately inflaming the most destructive passions in American politics, the strategy has badly divided and confused Democrats, at least for the moment. And having done so, it may well doom the Democrats in the general election.

14. Guess Obama's pastor
gd'ing america sits well with anyone who serves in the military! Offended doesn't even cover what Obama's spiritual leader spewed about our country. If Obama can sit and listen to this crap for twenty years and then claims he didn't know what kind philosophy his mentor follows; I would say Obama has the major problem. This goes to the core of his campaign. If Obama is claiming his campaign is about unity; why then does he attend; and more importantly support and take advise from a mentor who is totally divisive? Which is it???

A million dollar home for 35 years of service to the church? That's all.

Pat Robertson's Business Practices

Pat Robertson is a wealthy man. An extremely wealthy man-some estimates put his net worth at 140 million. He lives on the top of a Virginia mountain, in a huge mansion with a private airstrip. He owns the Ice Capades, a small hotel, diamond mines, and until recently, International Family Entertainment, parent company of the Family Channel. How does a televangelist, who is supposedly involved in non-profit work, manage to create such a fortune for himself? Apparently, between dealing with murderous dictators and ripping off senior citizens, its not that hard.

Pat the Scam Artist

With his ill-gained fortune now in place, Pat experimented with a number of new businesses, the most interesting among them being American Benefits Plus/Kalo Vita. This was a multi-level marketing scheme along the lines of Amway and Avon. Here, Robertson recruited people across the country (starting in '91-'92), as many as 20,000 people (many of them retirees) to sell coupon books. He told them in training seminars that his program was backed by the Bible, and that they could earn $15,000-$20,000 a month. Things didn't go that well with the coupon books, though, and Pat suddenly decide to change the company into Kalo Vita, and sell vitamins. Problem was, this left people with coupon books unsold, and when they tried to send the books back to AFB/Kalo Vita, they found out that they would not be refunded their money. One 76 year-old woman in in Indianapolis was stuck with $7,000 worth of unsold coupon books, and had to refinance her home. During the subsequent investigation, it was found that CBN had "loaned" money to AFB during its founding, almost 3 million dollars.
