Time to think about Gore again.

I'm not one of the people who talked about drafting Gore before. In fact I though it was not worth bothering about.

But now we have Obama and Clinton in a very tight and unusually vicious race. Come the convention, what if neither gets enough delegates to win on the first ballot?

Speculation: Al Gore as the peace candidate, meaning peace within the party.

Think it could happen?

It is not tight at all.

He won Iowa. He tied NH delegates. He won the delegates in NV. He won SC.

Obama Won January.

He won Super Tuesday.

He won the rest of the races in February.

Obama Won February.

Obama Won VT, WY, MS, and TEXAS.
Hillary won OH and RI.

Obama Won March.

There are 8 states left and she is only predicted to win 3.

Obama has won.

Gore would be a good threat to hold over Clinton, however. If the party insiders said they would support Gore/Obama on a second ballot, that might just give her pause.

In reality, I expect Obama to wrap it up in June - the superdelegates are waiting for the primaries to finish before they endorse. At that point, Obama will have a plurality of pledged delegates, and a lead in the popular vote, barring a disaster. There won't be a disaster - if there was anything beyond Rev. Wright and Rezko, they would have brought it up.

21. After 7.5 Years, I've Finally Moved on From Gore

He's one amazing man, but really it wasn't until he had the presidency ripped from him that he really let loose and now speaks truth to power, powerfully. He didn't do that while VP and during campaign.

I held out for him for a very long time, when it became apparent he's not at all interested in getting back into politics, did I commit to Obama.

Now I see the time now is for Obama, not Gore, not Clinton, and certainly not McCain.
