Obama breaking record: 22,000 in Happy Valley, PA
PA Road to Change: 22,000 at Penn State Rally

By Caitlin Harvey - Mar 30th, 2008 at 4:07 pm EDT

Over 22,000 people attended Barack's rally at Penn State University this afternoon. Barack spoke about his plans to make college more affordable, provide healthcare for all Americans, and end the war in Iraq.

Barack encouraged everyone to get involved in their communities and in the campaign, saying:

You have to participate, you've got to be involved. The cynics will say you can't...As this primary has gone on, there have been people who have been voicing some frustration. But this race has engaged and involved people like never before. That means that people are invested and engaged in this process.

...I know how easy it is to divide Americans and to find scapegoats. To focus on people who are different than you to distract from our problems. But nothing worthwhile has ever happened except when somebody, somewhere has been willing to hope. That's how young people like you traveled down south in the 60s and marched. That's what hope is -- imagining, then fighting for what did not seem possible.

After the event, I interviewed Terry, her son Zane, and his friend Elsa, all residents of State College.

They've all been big supporters of Barack since he first decided to run over a year ago. All three stood in line for three hours to get into the event, but said that the event was "worth every second."

Terry thought that the event was "amazing," and really liked what Barack had to say about ending the war in Iraq and bringing our troops home. Zane likes how Barack wants to make sure that all Americans can find well paying jobs, and how he is so energetic.

Terry, Zane, and Elsa are making sure that all of their friends and family vote for Barack on April 22. 4. Thanks for posting!
I watched the CNN stream of the rally but the camera didn't really pan out that much to capture the crowd. I bet there were more than that there but still... Great that they had a nice day out there in State College.

10. I Could Have Gone & Seen Him In Harrisburg This Evening...
But I volunteered to work in Lancaster yesterday helping get the tickets out for the town hall there Monday instead of driving to Harrisburg and waiting in line. I went out and canvassed afterward too. I'll be seeing him tomorrow. If he comes back to the area to do a big rally I plan to go though.

16. Can you imagine how Happy these
people are who supported Obama from the beginning and are now seeing him here and how far he and the campaign have come?
