Cash-strapped Clinton fails to pay bills
Source: Politico.com

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s cash-strapped presidential campaign has been putting off paying hundreds of bills for months — freeing up cash for critical media buys but also earning the campaign a reputation as something of a deadbeat in some small-business circles.

A pair of Ohio companies owed more than $25,000 by Clinton for staging events for her campaign are warning others in the tight-knit event production community — and anyone else who will listen — to get their cash upfront when doing business with her. Her campaign, say representatives of the two companies, has stopped returning phone calls and e-mails seeking payment of outstanding invoices. One even got no response from a certified letter.

Their cautionary tales, combined with published reports about similar difficulties faced by a New Hampshire landlord, an Iowa office cleaner and a New York caterer, highlight a less-obvious impact of Clinton’s inability to keep up with the staggering fundraising pace set by her opponent for the Democratic presidential nomination, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

Clinton's campaign did not respond to recent, specific questions about its transactions with vendors. But Clinton spokesman Jay Carson pointed on Saturday to an earlier statement the campaign issued to Politico, asserting: "The campaign pays its bills regularly and in the normal course of business, and pays all of its bills."

1. This is certainly the story of the day, with the farthest reaching political implications. Meanwhile
Barack is speaking to 22,000 people. I bet he raises and clears over half a million.

Time isn't on Clinton's side. The longer she stays in the more expense and the longer time in debt. I wonder if she is considering loaning herself more money? That would seem to be the next logical step if she plans to stay in and fight this out.

10. The information comes from Clinton's own FEC reports
she has $8.7 million in unpaid past due debt (going all the way back to Iowa).

You can try the smoke and mirrors (cash up front please) with the 'I don't like Politico' talk, but Clinton still owes the money.

20. Aquila Gas Bill in Iowa
Aquilla just announced they could start cutting off gas service in April for those folks who cannot pay their home gas bills.

That will happen for families unable to make arrangements to spread out payments etc. or simply have no money to pay.

Has Hillary made special arrangements to pay her bill or doesn't it matter since she's moved on and has no further need for gas for heat and cooking here in Iowa.

21. Iowa Doesn't Count!
Her unpaid Alliant Energy and MidAmerican Energy bills hurt any Alliant Energy & MidAmerican customer b/c they'll make up for her campaign's refusal to pay. I wonder how much it takes to make up $8,000 in unpaid bills?

3. Looks like another 5 mil loan is in order
from Hillary's personal finance. Which, no one knows acturally where it comes from, as she wants to keep secret all those tax returns from years gone by until now.

She is operating like the Repbublicans. Cruise on spending , using debt. It's the way all big busimess corps operate these days. Maggie probably advised her that is the way to go. It's modern and smart to run up debt and make some profit or gain that way. Just run up the debt and convince small doners their little peasly money will help her to WIN!. More of the same from the Bush lite Clinton campaign.

19. Don't misrepresent that $5 million loan!
That was to inspire us all to give more to her campaign since she was so confident in it she'd loan the campaign money out of her own pocket. Or did you not get that memo?

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-money8feb08,1,600282.story
The New York senator -- who in January raised less than half of the $32 million Obama brought in -- acknowledged Wednesday that she had lent her campaign $5 million.
By Thursday, however, the Clinton camp was saying that rather than being a sign of trouble, the loan had inspired donors.

Just looking at Aetna, $213,085.25 vs. $228,841.30, her campaign is running an additional debt of $15K more per month.

Maybe she was only thinking of mandating that we "get" health care plans, but not that we actually pay for them?

the FEC records are the general records that every campaign must keep and ultimately prove nothing but amount of debt and fundraising.

22. You're exactly right - well, kind of
The Politico piece is new since Clinton's past due debt has gone up almost two million since the last Politico piece that was ignored by the MSM. So you're wrong on that part.

But you're right on the part about FEC reports. They keep track of money raised, money spent and money owed.

And Clinton OWES ALMOST $9 MILLION IN PAST DUE DEBTS.

She has stiffed small vendors, communities, colleges and school districts. She isn't paying her staff on time (in fact Maggie Williams is working for FREE) and also isn't paying PAYROLL TAXES on time. She isn't paying health insurance premiums on time nor is she paying her phone, energy, rent bills on time.

DEBT - and lots of it.

That's what Senator Clinton's FEC reports show.
