3. Nice. But I'm wondering if they don't need to lay off that "1" thing a bit.
It creates all kinds of un-necessary problems, problems that don't have anything to do with our issues, and most certainly don't reflect what Obama has been saying about Us, i.e. he does not see himself as "a messiah" and most of us "... don't want another hero. All we want is to find the way Home."

11. I haven't had a hero since RFK. We MUST grow-up, stop expecting someone to
save our butts. Each person should be his/her own "hero" first and then we can consider more collective heros.

15. No worries..no one is expecting that who
supports Obama..no one I know. Part of the deal is we are doing our part, too. I think you're are reading too much into it.

16. Oh, I don't have a problem with it. I live in a Red state in a suburb
Edited on Sun Mar-30-08 07:24 PM by patrice
of a medium-large metro area, said suburb being almost completely run by a large local right wing church college, who interprets everything coming-and-going "Biblically". And, of course, you know it doesn't matter whether they really believe whatever interpretation or not, as long as they have something they can hang the case on to freak their folks out and get them to do this or that. The ends justify the means. You've heard of them: they've lain in the streets for fetuses, packed our boards of ed in order to handicap science instruction, not just for their own kids, but for everyone else's and that's one of their most disturbing traits. They take it very much onto themselves to influence and change what people think. They consider it a matter of "Salvation".

Canvassing for Kerry, I came across people who had been assigned to mentors from this or that church, once they were sitting the drive way when I came up, talked to them at their front doors. I talked to Catholics on phone banks who were receiving letters, on parish letterhead, from prominent members of their parish. Yep, what anyone thinks about a "leader" is everyone's business in Cupcake Land.

P.S. We're right next door to Missouri and if you think this stuff doesn't travel across statelines, you are very wrong. Too many people around thinking solely with numbers. Kansas may not matter statistically, but it DOES matter semanticaly.

19. Burnham is in the heart of "Pennsyltucky"
Burnham is in Mifflin County, which is 98.5% white. 10.9% of the adults have bachelor's degrees, and Bush beat Kerry there 70-29%. (Census Bureau, CNN.com).

Some more pics from the visit:

20. Hmm... "Edwards Bar & Grill"? Is that some sort of hidden message to John?

If he were coming here to California, I wonder if he'd go to an Edwards' Theater here... :)
