Why John Edwards' endorsement = DU's Great Pumpkin

Most of us have lost interest weeks ago, but one stubborn 15% is always going "This will be the week, Sally! Just you wait and see! He'll endorse my candidate and make everything wonderful again! I can barely wait for tommorow's press conference!"

And every week, they're disappointed, but absolutely convinced that next week will bring an endorsement.

Well, if those DU'ers are Linus, I'm Sally:
"You blockheads! Stop sitting in that pumpkin patch and face facts--this is NOT the week he endorses one Democrat over the other! Not now, not ever!

Arrrrgh, I can't STAND it!

2. DU's "Great Pumpkin" is "President Al Gore".

3. ha ha ha
seriously, I think it's wishful thinking, I have heard nothing out of Sen. Edwards mouth as to an endorsement for either candidate. He's stated publicly that he liked both of them, and that both of them would make great Presidents, and that he would not be endorsing at this time.

Until he says otherwise, it is pure speculation and unfounded wishful thinking.

4. Brilliant, BiCoastal..
And that football that Lucy always takes away from Charlie Brown right before he gets to kick it.

5. One constant theme in Peanuts is childlike fantasy vs. real-life disappointment.
Calvin and Hobbes is the same way, only Calvin's fantasies are somewhat darker--and he usually ends up way more bruised than Charlie Brown.

10. John Edwards and his "endorsement" seem to be
a decent barometer for how rumors get started.

11. People do seem to invest a lot of emotional capital in these things. I don't understand it.
There are multiple "Draft Gore" threads being rec'd right now, if you can believe that.

I predict Edwards' endorsement will get 10% of the news coverage that Brittney Spears' sitcom debut got.
