Oh GREAT, so the mudslinging will continue!
ok... whatever, wake me up in November, when McCain wins...

Yes, I fear we are just making it EASIER for them to STEAL the election

So who will folks blame THIS TIME? Nader?

Yes, after watching Countdown I am just thinking BROKERED convention... not good

And no I DON'T GIVE A FUCK of who ends with the nom. Not enough light in between those two when it comes to this silly thing called policy... and both are far more conservative than I wanted... or the country needs at this point.

Oh well... USSC, who cares? War in Iran? Assured, and quite possibly WW III

Just minor things at stake...

Oh well

To think that ONCE I believed in this political system... not any more

So buckle up, reach for the rain gear, and that which is falling on you is virtual political poop...

And of course McCain just stands by the sides, counts his money and keeps his ammo more than just dry... I mean why get involved in this
mudslinging? The election we should have won hands down... will be lost, we are experts at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory

RANT OFF.

PS I expect many of the partisans to come out (on both sides) and try to tell me best case why this is not so bad, and worst case, call me a partisan, WHATEVER.

1. Who could have won who was less conservative, seriously?
And I DO GIVE A FUCK WHO WINS. And I'm not alone.

3. Depends, if the press wasn't playing king maker
but we will never know, now shall we?

And when it comes to policy between these two, there is not enough light

Don't get me wrong, I will vote for whoever gets nominated... holding my nose, since McInsane is ten times as bad.

But this bickering will only make it that much easier for the Republicans to seal the election. PERIOD

Oh and one more thing, I don't expect my vote to count either... that cynicism from understanding that reality, which is now an American reality, but damn it, they will have to steal it.

Seriously.

5. Nah, that is why I usually don't post on GD-P where most of the poop comes down
but that is the frustration speaking... the frustration with A SYSTEM that has shown its weaknesses and probably should be redesigned and start with a single day NATIONAL Primary, preferably on the weekend.

And that goes for the US Constitution too. The last seven years showed some of its problems, but I don't foresee a Constitutional Convention any time soon

4. The last brokered convention (either party) was 1932
FDR won and went on to win the GE and three subsequent GE's.

Not to worry. It's not necessarily a bad thing.

6. I'm not sure about that, also remember that the 1932
rules were very different too (and you are correct as to which one was the last brokered convention, by the way)

I'm just sharing my fear... that when all is said and done come January 20th, John McCain will be taking the oath of office...

Granted, if we manage to defeat them... I can almost guarantee a gift to the Democratic President, a la Bush 41 and Somalia

That of course assumes we actually see things occur like they should

10. We are good.
We are the party of change. We are going to talk about racism. We are going to talk about sexism. We are going to move forward with all of our baggage.

We are going to win this one. I think all the infighting right now is good for us.

We will coalesce behind which ever candidate wins this.

Don't be afraid. Be brave.

7. The chances of a brokered convention are very slim.
Hillary says she is taking this all the way to the convention in order to make a case for seating MI and FL delegates "as is" to the credentials committee. The problem is that the committee will be pro-Obama, so she's going to lose that fight as well. The math is not on her side and I think you are seeing the Super Dees start to move towards Obama. Let's see what happens after PA.

8. As I wrote this is my fear
and I will keep saying this, I don't take sides on this... aka what candidate. I fear the whole process is truly hurting the chances of democracy in the US... whatever remains of it... as is it is on Life Support right now

9. Well, yes... there is no doubt that this prolonged battle is hurting our chances.
There is no denying it.

But, there are some positives to think about. Namely, that one campaign will have fully implemented Dean's 50-state strategy. We will have thousands of grassroots workers, poll watchers, canvassers, phone-bankers, and volunteers in EVERY SINGLE STATE plus DC and PR. The true evildoers have long fought Dean on this, preferring a weak and corporate-controlled "democratic" party. But that has all changed.

Have you looked at the crowds coming out to listen to a presidential candidate speak? Have you seen the enthusiasm, the hope, the inspiration? I am finally encouraged after so many long years. My aunt called me tonight to report the results of her district convention. Even in the wake of 56 (baseless) credential challenges designed to cause people to get frustrated and leave, NO ONE left. People are seeing that democracy is pretty f*cking important, and like most important things in life, you have to FIGHT for it.

We're stronger now as grassroots citizens and the open government candidate has really built a national network to be envied. The thugs will try, but I believe, this time, they are going to be held back. It's amazing how citizens are finally waking up and getting ANGRY over what has been allowed to happen to this country in their name. Not only are they getting angry, but they are getting up off their a$$es and doing something about it.

That makes me both proud and hopeful. :hi:
