That's 37 out of a possible 300 pins!!!
How can he possibly hope to run the country if he can't bowl at least a 100 pin game!?!?

And "The Colbert Report" had video of him rolling a GUTTER BALL!!!!:spray:  :woohoo:

To quote Stephen Colbert, "He should have tried rolling it from between his legs...like my six year old!"
:applause: GO OBAMA! THREE MORE PINS! THREE MORE PINS! THREE MORE PINS!:applause: :toast:

Btw, this is NOT an April Fool's Day Joke he really did it in for the MSM!

26. Yeah but he was over the line in the third frame.
That's a foul. That crazy fuck Casey made him mark it zero. Better to bowl a 37 than enter a world of pain.

3. I heard it was only 7 frames.
... which is 53, if adjusted to 10 frames.

... which is also the percentage he will get in Pennsylvania.

BO has tremendous foresight.

22. The 37 counts only the first 6 frames, since the spare in the 7th can't be tabulated ...
... until his next ball; plus his first two frames were total crap, after which he improved dramatically. (0,4 ... 9,9,7,8,/10). His minimum score would have been 47 had he guttered the next 6 balls in the 8th-10th frames. The score is certainly nothing to crow about, but neither was his effort anything to be ridiculed given he hadn't bowled in 30 years. Gotta respect Obama's self-deprecating humor regarding it, and shake one's head at the media.

5. Another reason everybody'll regret passing on Kucinich
America, you could've had an administration that was not only good on the issues, but slammin' on the holy triumvirate of Bowling-Polka-Kielbasa. But, NOOOOOOO.

12. Yeah, maybe he could've done the Bowling-Polka-Kielbasa in '77
but today, the kielbasa would have to be vegan.

Don't think the folks in Parma would go for that.

8. Yeah, the gasbags on
Tweety's show last night tried to make an issue of it. Per Harold Fineman, Obama should stick to basketball because it doesn't look good for him to look so BAD like he did bowling.... :eyes:

I think they were just having fun with it; but you can't be too sure with GOP Corporate Media. I mean, I expect 24/7 of the bowling ball going into the gutter with: "is this man READY to be President??"

9. Bowling is clearly one of the major qualifications for President
If you can't bowl at least a 200 you should never even consider running.

Fixing the economy, dealing with international relations all minor. The ability to send a ball down an alley and knock down pins--that's presidential.

Actually I liked the fact that he didn't take himself too seriously and seemed to be having fun with it.

14. I never said 200, bowling a 200+ game is difficult to do for most people...
...but 37!?!?:spray:

That TRULY sucks if you're a grown man, especially if you're a Senator representing the State of Illinois! Most 10 year old girls in Illinois can bowl at least a 37, but usually closer to 50.

What this looks like to me is either:

1) A VERY Dumb decision to bowl in front of TV cameras, because he knew he was really bad at it.

2) A truly dumb decision by his campaign, one that he should have figured out how to get out of since he knew he was such a very bad bowler.

3) Incredible arrogance by thinking, "Hey, any dumb idiot can do this sport, I'll do great...."

4) Someone who cracked under the pressure of being video taped while he bowled.

or

5) Someone who was way over confident about being to do everything right without even trying or knowing how to do it.

Say what you will about bowling, but it not only requires good physical coordination, it also requires great mental concentration and the ability to focus the mind. This really does say a lot about where his mind is right now.

This could even be his "Dukakis riding in a Tank" moment here.

20. I think if he hadn't been a good sport about it this would have hurt--or if he was down in the polls
From what I saw of the clips, Obama seemed to take his lousy bowling score with good humor, joking and kidding around. That's the way to do it--shows he doesn't take himself too seriously--at least when it comes to bowling.

Of course if he was down in the polls, this could be taken as a metaphor for a failing campaign. Since he appears to be on a roll right now, bowling is irrelevant.

I'm waiting for the inevetable bowling moment from Hillary Clinton--no doubt she'll do much better--hell I could do better than he did and I suck at bowling.

29. Utterly ridiculous. Bowling is a game of skill, not natural athleticism ...
Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 03:51 PM by krkaufman
... and so Obama's score says not a thing... especially since the 37 only counts the first 6 frames of 7 frames bowled, after 30 years of not bowling, and the first two frames were total crap.

Obama bowling a few frames, lacking any skill, tells me that he doesn't take himself too seriously and isn't moronic enough to think bowling prowess should be a factor in selecting the President. So what this episode tells me is that the media is even more useless than I thought, and that even many on DU are utter mouth breathers.

25. There are 100 pins in a full game of bowling.
Ten frames of ten pins, you get two chances at each pins. Strikes and spares are worth more in points than total number of pins.

I'd think people who make fun of Obama's bowling should have at least gone bowling before.
