The moment anxiety sets in that trend appears. You cannot think your way out of it. You must first stop trying to solve the problem then later you may realize you never really need to solve it. This is because the solutions come from the place on top of your head and also they mostly are never forced from below. The answer might already be there unconsciously or the unconscious part that is quite large will be solve it while the ease is rendered. If you let it fester and mull it over then it will never be solved or it might only get resolved with larger and more pressing problems.

Figuratively, if you are trying change other peoples minds that are also trying to change your's then you will never win the battle. People should get up and look at that brick wall in front of them in mirror. I don't dismiss it as vindictiveness or sarcasm but more of the failed way the establishment insists we solve problems.

There was a post about Obama hating babies. He made a statement, talking about abortion and birth control where he said "I don't want my daughters to be punished with an STD or pregnancy". The Hillary supporters jumped right on that statement and said Obama thinks babies are punishment, he's courting the anti-baby vote. A Hillary supporter posted this diatribe about how her son was a blessing and how dare Obama say anything otherwise. It was totally dishonest and the OP knew it.

The Hillary supporters took a statement in which they knew he was talking about birth control, abortion and sex-ed made it out to be Obama was anti-baby. It really pissed me off.

So I posted a satire of the "blessing" thread that was a bit over the top and it got locked. Then I got into a debate about how a parent could totally lie and say that their kid was a perfect little angel. I listed many of the things I did to torture my parents, metal in the microwave, parties, wrecked cars, I once painted a brand new carpet in my room black. Then I listed some of the things my kids have done to me( I suppose in Karmic payment). My point was people that claim their kids are perfect little angels are either lying or don't know their children well. I was just trying to point out that even though they were falsely accusing Obama of being "anit-baby" that his statement had some truth to it. Which brings us to the fundie thing.

I have a 12 year old with Functioning Autism. Great kid, brilliant, funny, well liked, goes to public school. Well I found out that he was being relentlessly teased by a few kids in his class. He was keeping it to himself, suffering in silence. Had his friends not gone to the teacher to help him, I would have never found out. The teacher started watching him during recess and sure enough caught the kids screaming in his face "Well spit it out already". His Autism sometimes causes him to stutter a bit or to take a long time to answer occasionally. Well, I got called to the school and so did the, yep you guessed it, fundie parents of the kids who were teasing him. Now of course these are church going kids, they love Jesus and according to their parents there is no way they were teasing my kid. He must have done something to them. They walked out of the meeting in a huff after the teacher came in and gave the report.

So, I have a bit of a biased against fundies and their kids. Sorry. Funny thing is one of the kids I figured was involved turned out to be one of the kids who went to the teacher. Can't judge a book I guess...

So anyway sorry this was so long, and to answer your other question I'm behind Obama but will vote for the Dem who wins the nomination.

on edit: BTW my 3 kids are a punishment and a blessing and I wouldn't trade a day with them for anything. I'm actually kind of grateful for the torture, it gave me a whole new respect for my parents...

I've been called more names and had more people "poke me in my eyes" -- than in any pre-election period in my 68 year history. Although there are many good moderators who try to control the exchanges, I find the Democratic Underground more of a beastly idealogical battlefield than an beatific Internet blessing.

Due to insults, innuendo, and downright derogatory messages, I've turned off my journal. My husband, who is a 73 year old software engineer, told me last September when he posted NON-POLITICAL information on his new journal -- that many of the people involved with this site are not worth the pixels we exchange. Reminder to myself: I'll be taking down his brief journal, too. Furthermore, he does not want to share photographs from any more of our trips.

I'm mostly lurking now -- so I'm a pretty easy mark if I do enter a conversation. So far this week, I've had to sustain about five ZINGOS from unidentified people taking potshots at me for age, career, my election choices and one particular weirdo asked me if I "still beat my children"!

It's very painful to watch because I love true debating and honest discussion. Frequently, there are many "grains of truth" -- but threshing through the barrels and barrels of chaff and manure -- is very tiresome.

I nearly quit this forum after discussing the merits of allowing right wing propaganda to be posted without qualifying the source. It was obvious that these people were using the very tools we decry in the repubs to slander our candidates but nothing was being done to stop it and that just led to the level of debate sinking even lower. We used to have a wonderful community here at DU and I was proud to serve as a moderator for a couple of terms to help pay back those who made it so. Now, the propagandists seem to have taken control, they infect every thread with their venom chasing out good people like yourself. You can see an example in the subthread above.

Regardless, I hope people like you stay and fight to bring this board back to the level it used to be. Every time one of the hatemongers chases someone like you away, we all lose.
