I am volunteering at the Ohio (Permanent) Obama office and today I worked on sorting postcards from Obama supporters across the country, that will be sent to voter in Pennsylvania. Here is the project:
The goal is to write at least 100,000 postcards by April 7th - together we can achieve this goal! Other groups are already participating.
If you want to participate, or if your want to help coordinate postcard writing in your area, but you have questions, post your questions in the comment section, and I will try to answer them.
Here is how to participate in 3 easy steps:
STEP ONE: Individually or with other women in your community, purchase 10 or more postcards for each of you to write along with post card stamps. If possible, purchase postcards that represent your city or state.
STEP TWO: If writing postcards in a group, organize/host a Postcard Party to get them all written and posted at the same time. Each postcard message should be brief and to the point - no more than 2-4 sentences on a postcard. The following provides sample language:
Dear Fellow Voter,
I voted (or I am voting) for Barack Obama for President because he is the best candidate to bring our country together to solve the problems we are facing. This is the type of leadership we need right now. I hope that you will vote for Barack too.
Sincerely, (Sign Your Name, City and State)
STEP THREE: Put a stamp on each card, leave the address sections blank (both To and From will be addressed by the Obama campaign), and bundle your postcards together in an envelope or box. Mail your packet of postcards to the following address no later than Monday, April 7th:
WFO Post Card Campaign 193 E. Rich Street Columbus, Ohio 43215
If any of you participated in this project, please know that not only will the recipient be touched but us volunteers (who open, check for disparaging content (none so far) and group in bundles to be later hand addressed before mailing) and also touched by your thoughtful action and kind comments!
I encourage all DUers who have time on their hands to step away from the computer and get involved! I've met such wonderful people and have found working on this campaign to be a rewarding experience (plus I got to shake the hand of the next president ;)
GET INVOLVED!
