I think Bowling-gate is bigger than most people think
Edited on Tue Apr-01-08 05:08 PM by Cali_Democrat
Right now most Americans and the media are treating this as a laughing matter. But as they keep showing the bowling clips over and over again, it may hurt Obama's chances in places like Pennsylvania where there are alot of blue-collar working class whites.

Bowling-gate could hurt his ability to connect with those kinds of voters. They will view him as an uppity politician who is not one of them. Bowling is very common in working-class areas and Obama's inability to bowl effectively could lead to a significant backlash among blue-collar working class whites. You know, the so-called "Reagan Democrats." Look for Hillary's Pennsylvania lead to expand because of bowling-gate.

Edit: Of course this is a joke. I'm just trying to provide a little humor for GDP!!

;-)

12. It concerns me greatly

Not only that, I heard from a friend who has this other friend, that knows this guy, who knows someone who once sat next to the guy that works at the cafeteria counter at the bowling alley across the street from where Obama bowled, and he said he crossed the foul line once.

We should all be concerned and/or worried.

"This has been a very hard fought race," she said. "We clearly need to do something so that our party and our people can make the right decision. So, I have a proposal."

"Today, I am challenging Senator Obama to a bowl-off," Clinton said, provoking relieved laughs from the assembled scribes.

Clinton carried on, making reference to Obama's disastrous outing at a Pennsylvania bowling alley Saturday.

"A bowling night. Right here in Pennsylvania. The winner take all," she went on. "I'll even spot him two frames."

"It is time for his campaign to get out of the gutter and allow all the pins to be counted. I'm prepared to play this game all the way to the tenth frame. When this game is over, the American people will know that when that phone rings at 3 a.m., they'll have a president ready to bowl on day one."

"Let's strike a deal and go bowling for delegates. We don't have a moment to spare, because it's already April Fool's Day. Happy April Fool's Day."

42. That was kind of funny
It'd do them BOTH some good if they could have a good natured bowling game together -- it would help diffuse some tensions, I think.

But then, he ought to challenge her to a little basketball competition, too -- maybe a game of HORSE. :D

A primary biathlon!

16. Oh well, it's over then for Obama.
What America needs is a bowler-in-chief.

Does Hillary bowl? How 'bout McCain? He has difficulty lifting his arms above a certain height (due to his years in the Hanoi Hilton), so is he even able to bowl?

Maybe Ralph Kramden is available.

28. I've been bowling about twice in my life.
My parents were in leagues at one time but bowling has been on the decline as a sport for many years. So I never have done much of it. And I think that's true for a lot of people, maybe even Obama. And maybe it depends on where you live.

I think this is much ado about nothing actually. It's a really stupid reason not to vote for somebody. At least as stupid as voting FOR someone because they're hot or some such thing. If that's case, well, then we really don't deserve to be a democracy.

I watched the video of it. He was good natured about it. He's pretty athletic otherwise, so it's nice to see that he isn't going around having to win every little thing to pump up his ego (leaders who do that don't always work out so well).

43. Class and Humility
I am so impressed with Obama's courage to be himself at the risk of making a fool of himself. He is being accused of looking like a sissy and so forth, because of his failure to perform at the bowling alley. In my opinion, it has taken class and humility for him to take upon yourself such a task that he knew he was not good at and therefore he risked humiliating himself in the eyes of the world. He is not preoccupied with his image or with impressing people, or showing off. He is being himself. His bowling adventure proves to me, more than ever, how balanced and real he is as a person. Such qualities will be what, ultimately, will bring him the nomination. It is what sticks in people's minds.
