Let's settle this once and for all. Some DUers say
that Barack and Hillary should have a bowling match, where apparently HRC feels she has an edge.

Others call for basketball, where Barack appears to have the advantage.

I say, let's move this into neutral territory, an area we already know isn't a strength for Hillary, and probably isn't for Barack either. (Michelle is the only one who can correct me on this one.)

Here is my proposal: to decide this nomination, they should have a chocolate chip cookie bake-off.

How about it, folks? Dare we eat the results?

3. What about a chili cookoff instead?
Edited on Tue Apr-01-08 05:40 PM by Bunny
I personally think chili requires a little more skill than chocolate chip cookies. But first we have to establish the ground rules: meat or meatless? beans or no beans? spicy or mild? soupy or thick? And what about the cornbread?

:silly:

15. Sigh
There's an unpleasant moment that comes back.

In 1992, first lady Hillary Clinton opens mouth and inserts foot:

"I'm not some Tammy Wynette standing by my man."

Naturally, this comment pisses off Tammy Wynette fans because anyone familiar with Ms. Wynette knows her to have been a very strong woman who survived drug addiction and stormy marriages while managing to rule the charts in the good-ole-boy's world of country music.

What did Hillary do? First she apologized to Ms. Wynette. Then she turned around and remade herself as a happy homemaker who just loves to bake chocolate cookies:

Now Is the Time to Come to the Aid of Your Favorite Cookies

By MARIAN BURROS
Published: July 15, 1992

HILLARY CLINTON says she has been baking chocolate-chip cookies since she and her brothers competed to see who could produce the largest on Christmas.

"My mother wanted to keep us out of my father's hair while he put up the Christmas tree," she recalled. "We usually got sick eating them and couldn't eat Christmas dinner."

Years afterward, she continued to bake them with her daughter, Chelsea. And now she is in a bake-off with Barbara Bush that Family Circle magazine was inspired to sponsor shortly after Mrs. Clinton's remark about not wanting to "stay home and bake cookies" when her husband was elected Governor of Arkansas. The contest pits Mrs. Clinton's version, made with oatmeal and shortening, against Mrs. Bush's, made without oatmeal but with butter..."

23. I think the way people twist the Tammy Wynette comment -- which
clearly referred to the singer's song lyrics, rather than to the singer herself -- is similar to how people are now twisting Obama's recent comments about being punished with a pregnancy.

Yes, Hillary did say that she didn't want to stay home and bake cookies while her husband was working. I assume Barack didn't want to do that either, even though Michelle could certainly have supported them both. But Hillary got slammed for the comment, as Barack never would, simply because she's a woman.

28. Yes, she was slammed because she is a woman
What bugs me is what she didn't do. She didn't stand by her statement. Instead, she chose to back off her stance and hide behind an apron. Where was her fighting spirit then? Why couldn't she get up and proudly say:

"I am an educated woman with my own mind. Deal with it, America!"

But no. Like she always seems to do, she ran back to her image consultants and got one of her many makeovers.

She is false and calculating and I am tired of her. She does nothing for the cause of feminism. She polls and she panders. She's no different than the many women in power who get to the top and then remove the ladder.

31. Sixteen years ago, the American public wasn't ready to deal with
a strong woman as First Lady.

If Obama is elected, we'll find out if the American public has matured enough to embrace her.
