Anyone else dissapointed in the performace of Obama "surrogates"?
Over the past few weeks many pundits have pointed out that the surrogates to the Obama campaign have been lacking in their defense of Obama.

Now, we all know what surrogates are supposed to do - say the things the candidate won't say or can't say.

I agree with these politicos. For example, a few weeks ago when HRC gave her tepid defense of Obama not being a Muslim on 60 Minutes, where were all the big surrogates at the next day?

Is anyone else thinking that the Obama surrogates have been pretty quiet in comparison to other surrogates?

2. Completely disagree...John Kerry and Claire McCaskill are two Fantastic Surrogates!

They do a lot of the national shows and appearances. Bill Richardson has been great, and Bob Casey has been wonderful in PA.

17. Sorry, but to me, Kerry is yesterday's news...
I personally don't think Kerry is a good advocate. He's great to his own base, but beyond on that I don't know. My perception of him is his own history of lacking the passion of fighting for himself in 2004.

5. I think replying to nonsense on gives it credence.
They reply to the worst kind of idtiotic smears and let the rest drop.

I think it's smart.

Instead of trying to deflect 10,000 bullets a day and always being on the defense, they keep to their message and only reply to the worst kind of idiocy.

6. I think they've done a good job. I'm especially pleased they
haven't ranted and raved and made fools of themselves like James Carville did.

7. It's not that the Obama surrogates aren't good...
It's that the Clinton surrogates are the best in the business. They can attack and latch onto weakness like no other.

Hopefully, they'll hop over to Obama when this farce is over.

11. Is this why HRC is winning?
Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 11:44 AM by karynnj
HRC has had to address the bad behavior of her surrogates - Penn, Carville, Bill, Kerrey, Rendell - all caused trouble to the campaign.

I bet HRC would love to trade any 5 of her surrogates for any ONE of John Kerry, Bob Casey and Claire McCaskill - excluding only Bill.

15. I don't think they're "best" at anything but making
horse's asses of themselves and at that they excel.

16. Also, it seems to me....
that her surrogates get more air time than his....and I don't know if this is by choice or because hers are so much better at throwing their elbows around to get on the air..

8. I agree, but its more like Obama's arent the nasty get in the gutter kind
By comparison they appear weaker than Hillary's because of that, but they do get out there.

I will agree I wish that at least a few of them were a little more in the face against the BS being said by the Clinton surrogates.

10. I'd assume that would be the correct position for the leading candidate.
None of that ranting will change a thing. It's past time, when couple points up or down would make a difference. He is now just playing defense, and holding to his score.

12. Obama surrogates exposed his NAFTA and OUT OF IRAQ IN 16 MON lies plus his
belief that there will be no cost to his social programs because they will not pass - as told to Kudlow on CNBC.

I'd say Obama surrogates are doing "say the things the candidate won't say or can't say" very well - but that no one on DU is listening.
