he is NOT interested in serving in any administration in ANY capacity. The ONLY thing he has never definitively ruled out is another run at the Presidency...unless of course you take his reluctance to run as your answer of that.

Obama knows how popular Gore is and having Gore, potentially, as a Cabinet member could sway a few voters.
But I also agree it's too soon to be talking about a Cabinet.

46. Yeah, hilary's already talking about alan greenspan
on some commission to study mortgages.

"OK, this is pretty dumb. Hillary Clinton wants a high-level commission to analyze ways to resolve the mortgage crisis -- including Alan Greenspan.

Yes, I know people still listen when Greenspan speaks -- and John McCain once joked about taking Greenspan's advice even if he's dead. But for those in the know, AG is a key villain in the whole affair."

59. So he wants to give gore a chance to be in a bigger position to do some good.
WTF is wrong with that? Obama is noting experience is needed in his admin and mentioned a name that could work.

Now if he offers and Gore refuses that is Gore's thing. However, Obama can offer whoever he wants even if they have endorsed Clinton to the full.

Gore could do wonders working with the industry on reducing C02 while helping Obama seriously consider complete solutions like EMC2 fusion (US Navy Project) So it is a good idea and I would even say the same for Clinton making the offer.

My god I am so tired of this divisive BS going on in the democratic party. Even ideas for the future are taken as damn "Mr. Opportunist" crap.

Is there any wonder why some think humanity is doomed?

In response to a question at the town hall he just wrapped up. The question was about whether he would embrace Gore's environmental plans he said that he consults with him on at least a weekly basis and yes, Gore would be at the table when he decided on a policy. He said nothing about a cabinet position.

38. AP is reporting it like the OP:
Obama: I'd hire Gore

By DEVLIN BARRETT, Associated Press Writer 35 minutes ago

WALLINGFORD, Pa. - Democrat Barack Obama says as president he would consider putting Al Gore in a Cabinet-level position — or higher.

A woman at a town hall asked the Illinois senator if elected president would he consider tapping the former vice president for his Cabinet, or an even higher level office, to address global warming.

"I would," Obama said. "Not only will I, but I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part in us figuring out how we solve this problem. He's somebody I talk to on a regular basis. I'm already consulting with him in terms of these issues but climate change is real."

Gore, who's work on climate change earned him a Nobel Prize, he is popular among Democrats.

64. EPA is not even a cabinet level agency...
Al Gore would not even be in consideration to head EPA. Also, there are thousands of employees "in" EPA that care very much about the environment (I am one of them); however, the political appointees that run the place are another story. For example, our Regional Administrator here in Dallas was the mayor of Arlington, Texas and responsible for shoving the Ranger stadium down the throats of the taxpayers of Arlington that ultimately made BabyBush so rich. He was rewarded with EPA. Oh, and Dick Armey's son didn't win the election for his daddy's seat, so he was rewarded with being Regional Administrator of GSA in Fort Worth (at 32 years old). See how it works? Good old boy politics... rewarding ambition rather than competence.
