I'm an Obama supporter BUT...please spare me your "concern"
Everyone here who has seen my posts knows I'm a strong supporter of Senator Obama for President. They also know that I don't take any crap from the HRC boosters, who seem to believe DU is their oyster and those of us who support the Senator from Illinois are unwelcome irritants.

But this OP is about that small subset of so-called Obama "supporters" who only seem to be able to show their "support" by posting endless threads expressing "concern" about this or that aspect of the way other Obama supporters express their views on DU.

We've all seen them, and they usually run something like this: "I'm an Obama supporter BUT -", and the "BUT" always seems to be followed up with some talking point right out of the HRC booster's smear playbook.

Thanks for your "concern," guys, but please spare us any more of it. If you see something that appears to you to be sexist, misogynistic, or otherwise unacceptable for a progressive discussion board, why don't you do us ALL a favor and just hit alert? Or e-mail the mods? Well, I think we all know why, but nevertheless: the next time you get the urge to express such "concern," why not just hit "alert" or e-mail a "mod," and I promise you things will get all better. Thanks.

4. You said:
"Those who express their concern are trying to do you, and us, a big favor."

Wrong. They are no different than those who post the "I'm a life-long Democrat, BUT" posts up in GD. The gist of the "BUT" always somehow seems to rhyme with some right-wing talking point or meme.

Same with the "concerned" Obama "supporters": the "BUT" always matches up with precisely the worst things the HRC boosters say about us.

Some might call that a coincidence. I call it something else.

3. I'm a lukewarm Obama supporter but I'm also an Anybody but Hillary-Republican voter
and I do have concerns about Obama and I will defend Paul Krugman from the Obama-bots. Too bad if you don't like my posts.

6. 1. Concerns about the candidate himself are not what my OP addresses.
2. I'm voting for whoever is the Democratic nominee in November.

3. I have never said one ill word about Paul Krugman, nor do I have any plans to.

4. I've never, to my knowledge or memory, read one of your posts. I might well have, and just don't remember the name. But my OP was not specifically directed at you.

There, I think that just about covers it. :hi:

12. I don't know about Krugman anymore.
Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 05:50 PM by KaptBunnyPants
He was dead right about healthcare, but his analysis of Obama's and Clinton's economic plans was just ridiculous. Obama practically stole his speech on deregulation as the cause of our recession from Krugman, and he barely acknowledged it. Except to say that Hillary "Let's just stick Greenspan back in there" Clinton's plan was much better. I think he's just too devoted to her to be reasonable at this point.

13. Krugman praised Obama for discussing regulation in his speech
Krugman fairly criticizes policy positions. On papaer Hillary's may look more progressive, but what he's not saying is whether or not that part will make it through Congress. That's speculation and Krugman prefers to criticizse the candidates policy positions because he feels that's the starting point.

9. I'm an Obama supporter but ...
I also like to say "I'm an Obama supporter but."

But like some others on this thread, I won't express HRC-spin as 'concern.'

14. I've been watching and when they've gotten fronted off
They come back and purport to support Obama but invariably stir the race pot.

If the intro-line encourages concerns over race or wright etc, you can bet it's not an Obama supporter.
