Jimmy Carter Endorses Obama (without endorsing)
President Carter told THISDAYONLINE...

"We are very interested in the primaries. Don’t forget that Obama won in my state of Georgia. My town which is home to 625 people is for Obama, my children and their spouses are pro- Obama.
My grandchildren are also pro- Obama. As a Super Delegate, I would not disclose who I am rooting for but I leave you to make that guess?"

14. Wasn't Jimmy Carter's approval rating so bad Bush can't even catch up?
I believe it was well in the low 20's at its lowest point. Is that true?

25. It's a legit Nigerian news website as far as I know
Wouldn't be surprised if this hits Reuters within 24 hours. Did some cross-checking on Google News, and Carter is in Africa right now. http://africa.reuters.com/wire/news/usnL02863025.html So that part checks out at least. As does Carter's quoted estimate of the population of his hometown. If it's a fake story, it's a good one.

32. Thanks for checking that out, I was trying to verify that too

So at least we know he is there, and his hometown population checks out.

There is a website that I ran across a few weeks ago, that had the superdelegates, and their opinions, whether they had endorsed or not. Under Jimmy Carter was a similiar statement here, minus the bit about winning Georgia and his hometown reference, it also said one of his family members was not behind Obama. Looks like that is not the case now.

Does anyone know of other Super Delegate sites, besides Demconwatch? It seems like I found the link from their site, that went to a completely different one.

16. Jimmy Carter is one of few public people whose opinion about a candidate matters to me...
Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 11:38 PM by polichick
In my view he is a man of wisdom and understanding, who was way before his time ~ someone who told us back in the 70s that we needed to free ourselves of our addiction to oil, not only to save the earth but to protect the country from dangers growing in the Middle East.

21. Ah yeah, the Carter Doctrine
I agree with it. IT's just a shame that neocons now look to Carter as the basis for their current disastrous foreign policy.

28. Not their downfall, exactly.
I have heard many Neocons use (or twist, rather) Jimmy Carter's stance on Middle Eastern oil as the basis for our current Middle Eastern policy. To wit, we "democratize" the Middle East as a way of making it a stable part of the world from which to draw oil. Iraq was, of course never about WMDs. It was giving us easier access to Middle Eastern oil.

So much for that...

But in my experience with talking with and debating neocons, they often like to say that what they are doing now is all due to the "Carter Doctrine."

Every day we see 3 to 5 "John Doe endorsed X candidate even though I know I'm full of it" threads.
