Donations to DCCC Spike after Clinton Threat To Pelosi
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 07:50 PM by powergirl
Another terrible miscalculation by the Clinton Campaign. Obama has changed the way funds are raised. The Clinton campaign wants to use the old school of campaign finance - getting the Sugar Daddies of the Democratic party to fund the party and ultimately the government. The new (Obama) way, the right way to funds, is to let us, the people, take back our government. Empowering more of us to be active in voting results in less support for Clinton - because this is not her strong suit. Democracy will result in President Obama.

"The effort by Hillary Clinton’s bundlers to pressure Speaker Nancy Pelosi into retracting her comments about superdelegates has caused a spurt of Obama-linked donations to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Democrats with direct knowledge of the situation said.

"The letter, sent last week, was interpreted as an extortion threat; the 20 signatories seemed to suggest that they would withhold donations from the DCCC if Pelosi did not change her position. --- that superdelegates ought strongly consider the expressed will of voters in their states.

“We have been strong supporters of the DCCC,” the letter stated. “We therefore urge you to clarify your position on super-delegates and reflect in your comments a more open to the optional independent actions of each of the delegates at the National Convention in August.”

"But the letter may have backfired:, the DCCC saw a surge in online contributions, which officials there attribute to a mass action to protest the Clinton donor threat, and several major Obama donors called Speaker Pelosi and DCCC chair Chris Van Hollen asking how they could be helpful. Sources also said that several major Clinton donors, outraged at the letter sent in the name of the campaign, privately offered their assurances to the DCCC that no money would be cut off.

"Mark Gorenberg, a member of Obama’s national finance team, and a long-time DCCC fundraiser, met with Pelosi last Friday.

“I met with the head of DCCC fundraising and agreed to dedicate real effort to raising money for the DCCC this coming quarter because they have 30 races to protect and at the same time there are 30 more republicans retiring and Nancy is the best,” Gorenberg wrote in an e-mail. “I assume the fundraisers in San Francisco will include hillary, obama, and edwards supporters. Nancy is a great unifying force out here and everyone loves her.”

Two sources close to Pelosi said that the Speaker did not appreciate being called out by the Clinton campaign so publicly. “I I can tell you she’s been disturbed about some of the Clinton campaign’s comments and tactics the last two months, especially saying John McCain would be a better Commander in Chief,” said one Washington-based Democrat who has spoken with Pelosi about the matter.

Pelosi has not endorsed; Clinton advisers and many journalists believe she is a secret supporter of Barack Obama's, although Pelosi aides insist that she's been careful to be - and to appear to be -- neutral."

6. Pelosi introduced Obama as the next President at the JJ Dinner in Iowa..
I was totally stunned when I heard those words cross her lips.

Not biased? let her tell that fairytale to her grandchildren!

10. And hopefully she was correct refering to him as the next president.
For it will suck if we get to hear "President McCain" for the next 4 years!

26. And this is supposed to help democrats how?
She is not the best by any stretch but calling her more republican is NOT a great idea in my view. The idea here is to fix things not name calling destruction.

Also she is being challenged last time I checked. So see whats going on in that front.

28. It behooves one in the long run, to call a spade a spade..
giving one a clear understanding of (I hate to say it) what "IS" is.. knowing the scope of an issue circumscribing the problem and indicating that it needs to be solved, and suggesting a methodology for solving it. To be brief, Nancy Pelosi- Must Go!

This is my universal approach for problem solving as it is applicable to anything problematic. Name calling is hardly what my brief message above was meant to communicate. The use of one word "Republican" connotates and encompasses a vast meaning summed up into one word and is not used here in this either/or environment specifically in a derogatory sense but rather in a defining sense. (I, from time to time, make up my own words, in case that ever becomes an issue for anyone reading here)

27. Pelosi is worse than a republican
she is an enabler.
A pox on her house and I hope she loses her seat to a more progressive voice.
Send her ass backpacking to California.

22. Pelosi is an Obama supporter and Obama is dishonest for portraying her as a nuetral party.
All this man ever does is lie. He wakes up lying and he goes to bed lying.

I had so hoped she would of inspired us all.. She has not done that... I am all for the rules and last I looked the primary was still going, and Pelosi, well she should not of said that.. She should abide by the rules and try to bring her party together...

3. Obama basically took Dean's campaign in 2004, and supersized it with a slice of great candidate
40 million in one month is crazy. $96 dollars a donor. That's incredible.

12. It's too good to be true that more individuals are donating money
instead of the upper tier wealthy folks? What's too good to be true - that Obama is ahead in delegates, popular vote, polls, etc.? I thought this would make any Democrat happy. Put power back in the hands of the people and out of the hands of Republican fat cats and Sugar Daddies of our own party. How is this a bad thing?

15. Err.. No, Obama is unqualified for the presidency.
His resume is so thin, I doubt his ability of landing a job as a operational CEO of a Global Corp.
Obama's profile is geared to $ales and climbing ladders learning something on the way up.

19. Many southerners said the same thing about Lincoln btw....
I'm not making that comparison other than the original criicism. The same was said about Kennedy in 60. Same for Roosevelt when he returned to politics after his polio struck. Would you believe that some Americans said John Adams was unqualified to be President of the United States because he'd spent so much time in France and later London working as a diplomat and "did not understand us anymore."

18. Like Hillary dodging sniper fire?
And I think the more appropriate Shakespearian allusion here is to Lady MacBeth.

What she didn't count on was ObamacDuff decapitating her.

8. Well we need to be aware that because of this we need to be INVOLVED!
Obama being the president is only the START. We must work hard to help improve the future!

First of all is urging this BS race to end.
Then working on helping democrats win additional seats in congress.
Then working on the local level to build up support and get out the vote efforts.
Then working as poll workers
Then after the election working on ending the war
Then after the war we need to urge the repeal of BS laws that happened under the Bush/Clinton years.
Then working on getting fusion online across the country.
Then working on getting Obama reelected in 2012
Then working on building an even bigger democrat majority in congress in 2012

You see we must work hard for our future!
