There is no point at being outraged by whatever Hillary has said or her campaign has done. It couldn't be any other way with them. They are Machiavellian, and too many Democrats cannot accept that. The end justifies the means. It doesn't matter what the means are. They will do it, if that means that they can win. I have accepted this about the Clintons. It makes it all much clearer and less inexplicable. This is what they do: they do everything to win.

And Obama is still beating them.

6. Link to a lie. You cannot just assert your own facts
here without a link to back up what you're saying.

9. Huh? I beg to differ:
http://toughdonkey.blogspot.com/2008/03/clintons-and-race-card.html

Race and the campaign

The Clintons - who believe their hearts are pure - have been playing the race card for months.

It started in Iowa. A Clinton staffer fired off a statewide e-mail saying that Obama was Muslim (false) and had attended a radical Islam school, a madrassa (false). The aide was fired, an apology was issued, but the damage had been done.

Kerrey on

Former senator Bob Kerrey, a Clinton ally, recycled the madrassa myth on CNN and said Obama's middle name (Hussein) gave him entree to a billion Muslims. Apology issued, damage done.

Selling drugs?

Bill Shaheen, Clinton's New Hampshire cochairman, said that Obama's admittance of teenage drug use would damage him in the general election. Granted. But Shaheen also predicted what the press would ask Obama: "Did you ever give drugs to anyone? Did you sell them to anyone?" Sell them? Would these questions be asked of a white candidate? Apology issued, damage done.

A black primary

After South Carolina, Bill Clinton compared Obama to Jesse Jackson in a lame attempt to make it a black thing. Hillary Clinton recently said she was sorry if anyone was offended. Apology issued, damage done.

That first black president thing

President Clinton was called "the first black president" by Toni Morrison, the black Nobel laureate and Pulitzer Prize-winning author. But the context of her sobriquet wasn't affectionate.

"In the middle of the Whitewater investigation, one heard the first murmurs: white skin notwithstanding, this is our first black president. . . . Clinton displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald's-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas." She then condemned him for jettisoning blacks from his administration. "The message was clear, 'No matter how smart you are, how hard you work, how much coin you earn for us, we will put you in your place or put you out of the place.' "

Driving Miss Hillary?

Obama leads in pledged delegates and popular vote, and has won twice as many states as Clinton. He beats McCain, my friends, in nearly all national polls. But Clinton has suggested that Obama would be a good number two on her ticket, an offer Obama promptly refused.

A 1,000-word picture

The Drudge Report, the right-wing news and gossip website, was sent that photo of Obama in Somali garb. It exploded across the nation's media just days before the Ohio primary. Drudge said the picture came from aides to Clinton, which her campaign denied. No apology, damage done.

Double dealing

First, Governor Ed Rendell, leading Clinton's campaign in Pennsylvania, said there are white people in his state who won't vote for Obama because he's black. Then, Geraldine Ferraro, a Clinton fund-raiser, said if Obama were white, he wouldn't be leading. Apology issued, damage done. Again.

11. Sorry but the official Obama view - after screw-ups by his staff/supporters - is that candidates can

not be expected to control staff or supporters -

and the only thing that counts is what he himself says.

If you insist on not following your leader Obama on the non-blame (granted he only said no blame after the effect of the race card has "solidified his black support" - and after staff screw ups),

then you have a problem with the revelations by his highest place advisers speaking for him to Canada (on NAFTA - he won't force a change by ending the treaty if no change - but Hillary would - the exact opposite of what he stated in the debates), or on social programs (including universal health and all the others where his spokesperson said there would be no additional cost in the budget as Obama did not expect to get any new programs passed - its just campaign talk - so Kudlow at CNBC need not worry), or on getting out of Iraq in 16 months (as told to the EU paper it is again just campaign talk and should only be considered a best case option that will be part of review - same review Hillary wants but which in the debate he made fun of - - when he takes office) - that is to say you have a problem with Obama if you apply a bit of logic - but not if he is your walk on water savior.

12. Hmmm ... so by changing the subject about whether what surrogates say counts,
you are admitting the Clinton surrogates were race baiting. And let's be clear that the ugly talk from the Clinton side started in Dec. as soon as Barack hit it out of the park with his speech at the Jefferson/Jackson dinner in Iowa. They knew they might have a problem ....

2. Yes they are what they are.
It does help to understand them. Clinton will do anything, say anything in her scorched earth strategy to gain the nomination at any price. How very sad for all of us.

she is part of a decades old political machine inside the Democratic Party that hates and abandoned the traditional Democratic base, and was founded and funded by the RW.

I just expect it at this point, like what would happen if a polar bear were released and I was unfortunately in its vicinity. The problem for them (and for the party) is that it seems to be relatively short sighted.
