Randi Rhodes: Setting the record straight, she never said "Corporate", just called em whores
"What a whore Geraldine Ferraro is! She's such a fucking whore!" Rhodes remarked. "Hillary is a big fucking whore, too" to a mixed audience reaction. "You know why she's a big fucking whore? Because her deal is always, 'Read the fine print, asshole!'"

4. Cheap spin.
I have no use for Randi Rhodes. She has proven herself to be as vile as Mike Savage.

19. Geeeeee, did Bush repeal the First Amendment and someone....
...forgot to tell me?

Randi said what she said while NOT on the job. IMO, whether I agree or not, I will defend her right to say what she said. That is what the First Amendment is all about. It's her opinion and it is protected speech. AAR should be ashamed of itself. While they have a perfect right to set standards on what is said on their air time, they do NOT have a right to censor what an employee says while on his/her own time.

JMHO

3. Is THIS what all the fuss is about???
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 10:05 PM by rocknation
Exactly what was the problem--the "fucking" or the "whores?" Is isn't as though she said it on the air!

5. She said it an Air America event.
whether you agree with their decision or not AAR has every right to suspend her.

If she said it at her own event --or in a private setting, I'd be just as perturbed and angry as anyone else.

6. They weren't WRONG to suspend her
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 10:51 PM by rocknation
just hypocritical.

I suspect if she'd just called them "whores," they would have found a way to live with it.

7. AAR is in the business to bash politicians. Don't think they can set policy retroactively. n/t

9. Understand something about what AAR is
They are a privately owned ENTERTAINMENT venture.

That's all they are --giving AAR any more cred than that is ridiculous.

11. AAR isn't going to keep someone on a station who bashes half of their viewing audience.
So please be a bit sensible here!

14. Behavior?

It was not her behavior, it was her lack of audience. AAR is in the ratings business. No ratings, no advertisers. Sponsors, the few that remained, do not like their product or service associated with a humorless, strident, nagging, repetitive, lowbrow jerk. The math was simple for AAR, and Rhodes gave them a great excuse for dumping her. She will NOT be coming back.

15. Yes, it was her behavior, both that night and her on-air behavior over the
last several months that was disgusting.

I have not looked into her ratings--but have no reason to doubt what you say.

And I've heard she has problems with the bottle, but I don't know if that's true or not.
