Is Anderson Cooper a Race-Baiter?
I'm watching CNN and it sure seems like it. He's obsessed with the Wright story.

He's had some pretty smart, thoughtful people on his panel tonight. So far.

After the break a segment on MLK and how controversial his sermons were at the time.

Still, I don't see the point of his continued focus on this story and on race. Nothing new here and he's just beating a dead horse.

15. Tomorrow is the anniversary of MLK's murder. It's appropriate, since
everyone keeps throwing down that race card in this election year. And timely.

25. Yes, true.
And don't vote for her if you don't want to.

I think your candidate is a wussy little bullshitter, but if he gets the nom, I will hold my nose and vote for him.

I won't be responsible for President Popeye.

How nice to know that you will.

Of course, that's the atitude I expect from the DU Obama supporters--the ones here don't seem to give a fuck about the party.

20. I'm sick of it too.
These subjects got old a long time ago.

I don't think Cooper is an intentional race-baiter. I think he's scared of seeming too liberal so he over-compensates by bashing Obama, and making disapproving overgeneralizations about Obama's perceived race issues is apparently the easiest way to do that. Cooper will never ask "tough questions" about John McCain, of course.

Cooper must be getting good ratings out of the Wright story since he's been pushing it relentlessly for weeks now. Even it the story was real news at one point, it ceased being news weeks ago. It's too bad Cooper's incapable of real jouralism.

7. I don't know what his angle is, maybe he's pro-Hillary...
...but I'd have a hard time believing he's racist, or is race-baiting, in any way. I only say this because of his totally emotional, almost obsessive reaction he had to Katrina - he was seriously, genuinely, horrified and angry. Also, he covered the Rwanda genocide, and was traumatized by it. He may have his low points, but I don't think he would, as least consciously, take a racist viewpoint on Wright.

However... had I not known about Katrina and Rwanda, I'd think the same thing.

13. MLK...
Just had a piece comparing MLK's comments about America's treatment of blacks regarding the Vietnam War and in general that were similar to Wright's. Send people 8000 miles overseas to help create rights for the people in Southeast Asia when they don't even have those rights in their own country. And a reference to how God would take America's power away if we didn't change our ways (in reference to our treatment of blacks).

16. He's confusing to me.......but considering the kind of time Wright has been
given, I'm not sure how this comes back to "haunt" Obama in the GE. Sounds more like it will be beating a dead horse to me.....cause it appears to be playing itself out, as the actual person, Rev. Wright, is starting to be fleshed out.....based on the fact that Wright has a lot of influence in the religious community, Blacks as well as Whites.

But yes, the constant discussion of race in the way that it has been handled to date, really sickens me....and makes me cry for my children and for this country. We are literally teaching our children to have the kind of mindset we should be turning the page on.

21. Yes. excellent.
I think the saturation coverage has completely neutralized the shock value of Wright's sermons. His words have kind of sunk into the national consciousness and will be less "scary" now.
