Hillary's speech... she's at the end of her rope.
Listening to her speech today, I felt like she was reading a bedtime story.

The rigors of campaigning have done her in. Her exhaustion isn't just evident, it's defining her. She just doesn't have anything left.

I feel for her, but we need to run youth and vigor, as well as hope and good policies, against Grandpa McCain.

Hillary, you put up a hell of a fight, I know that the Presidency was your life's ambition, and I know that it doesn't seem fair that this guy came out of nowhere and trashed you plans... but it's time to throw in the towel. You can still do tons of good as Senator.

1. No, IMO she'd low crawl over broken glass to SMEAR her opponent or glean SYMPATHY

that she will *spin* to her advantage.

Don't open your heart because, IMO, HRC has "a heart of darkness."

NO SLACK until she drops out of the race. Until then, keep up the campaigning for Obama.

In other words, despite appearances, Take nothing for granted!

3. Her LIFE was a quest for the Presidency... I'm sure she would go to
great lengths even now if she thought it would save her dream.

She'd only smear if she thought it would help her.

This speech was poorly orated. She has nothing to gain by looking so spent.

4. Its too bad that she listened to those overpriced
yet worthless advisors of hers. If she had not run such a dirty campaign, she could have had the #2 slot. I just don't see that happening now - but I could be wrong.

8. No shit. The people at the helm of this disaster are either completely incompetent,
or dangerously aware of the course they have steered. WTF would you have the same adviser as McCain?

30. that made me see Hillary's unwilling to drop out in a different way.
along the lines of the reasons for the so called incompetence you mentioned.

she may well stay in all the way, knowing she can't win it honestly but will do it in a dishonest, obvious way and have more than half the dems riot in the streets. She may just be purposely building up angst from her opposition to tinderbox this moment - why else all those absolutely ridiculous stories and lies of hers that makes heads explode?

so we have this nice riot, all planned for conveniently before the GE so bush can call martial law and snap shut the finality of fascism.

ooga booga, i should write a short story :).

5. She has to be exhausted
I can't imagine how candidates undergo this kind of strain. Obama's turned into a beanpole and he was thin to start with. About Clinton, though, I don't see a lot of coverage, because I only get CNNI, but I've noticed she's sort of neglecting her appearance recently. Perhaps it's going downscale on purpose, I don't know, but she's not getting her hair and makeup done professionally, it seems. I never get my hair done and don't wear makeup, so nobody would ever think about it, but for her, until this month she's presented a well-groomed and glamorous face to the public, very pulled together. What's up with this, I wonder?

Her hair and makeup looked great IMO. But I agree with your larger point about how the primary season has exacted a toll on the two of them.

13. Well, she can afford it if she pays for it personally. Perhaps
she is depressed and not feeling up to it? I don't know. I haven't noticed a major change in her appearance. There was one clip they kept showing over and over again where she was bobbing her head up and down as she was sitting down. She looked like she was exhausted on that clip. I don't listen to her (pause tivo when she is on the screen and wait a few minutes...then I fast forward so I don't have to listen to her lies) so I have no idea what she was talking about.

That's why I found it curious. But as I said, I don't see a whole lot of campaign coverage, so my reaction could be off.

17. Maybe not her life's ambition
But her compensation for Monica at least. I wonder when the plan actually hatched? Certainly the Senate was viewed as a stepping stone despite her cute denials.

She has been a pretty good Senator and she was a pretty good candidate until she started throwing bombs.

22. At the risk of kicking a negative thread
I think it is wrong of you to use this anniversary as an opportunity to call on one of our Presidential Candidates to quit the race for the Democratic nomination, when millions of people are getting ready to take part in a whole bunch of contests coming up in the next few weeks.

Edited on Fri Apr-04-08 04:18 PM by Dr_eldritch
Yeah... as though I brought up her exhaustion because it's a grim anniversary. :eyes:

Lemme guess; "Because of this day's significance, we can't...

- Point out anything negative about any candidates.

- Speculate on their condition.

- Mention that it's raining outside.

- Frown.

- Discipline my kids.

- Make brussel sprouts for dinner."

Right?

Now, are you running around telling people who are doing these things that it's "innappropriate"? Or are you only doing so when it involves Hillary Clinton.

Why else would you really think it mattered that much?

Look, it doesn't matter what today is, or what her speech was about. Those are irrelevant to the fact that she looked exhausted while delivering it.

Don't worry, I'm sure we can all find occasions upon which we can tell you when you can and cannot make such speculations.
