Hillary offers "CZAR" position to EDWARDS???
Edited on Fri Apr-04-08 05:22 PM by polichick
Today on the stump she talked about a cabinet level job to deal with poverty ~ Chrystia Freeland, a guest on msnbc's Race to the WH, says it was a job offer.

WOW!

16. Gore will not take it. He said the only position for public office he'd seek is POTUS.
He might on a more advisory level but not as the head of something.

But if a cabinet level spot were offered that gave him the opportunity to really advance his cause, I think he'd consider it.

44. Not my first post.. And yes I seem to be a ghost in the machine.
I do think it has made for some interesting insight into DU, in a weird way.

People are so used to everything being the same they hiccup when something is different and that makes for some interesting stereotype observations.

In addition as many people have told me they obviously make a class judgment based on count number, Im finding it very interesting not being in the black or white, low posts to the 1000+ posts, it makes the automatic judgment of post class unusable.

It is also very telling most then go to the negative judgment of the 0 and says so much about human nature, that which they do not know or understand they poke and cajole for being different.

In some ways it is interesting being able to see it in action.

45. It's interesting to see that people who don't know each other automatically
"assume" that others are being critical. I have never seen that happen before. You may have had several thousand posts but your's said 0 thus it was funny. Try not to take all of this so seriously.

I thought it was funny and I was serious about contacting management, but I see it's been handled.

46. Sorry that wasn't diected at you and
it seems the computer has taken away some of the academic nature of my rambling.

I was actually looking at it because a lot of people had made comments about it, it really was interesting to see it in action.

And it wasn't meant to assume you were negative or critical, it was a generalization I was talking about, I thought it was funny too.

If I had a choice I think I kind of would like it 0 anyways because it was unique

Thanks for the welcome.

Ill still be hiding over here:yoiks:

I'm not sure he would take the bait.

There would have to be a whole lot more than that (plus she would have to have a shot at winning) for him to sign on, imho. Remember, she wasn't that supportive of him in 2004.

58. Obama has already beat Hellary to the punch on this !
This is nothing more than ANOTHER attempt by Hellery to copy Barack Obama. She has been a johnny come lately to almost every position which Obama was first on.

Barack Obama has had a plan for a cabinet level department on poverty since the beginning of his campaign. Even Edwards did not have such a thing, and certainly Hellery didn't. This position has been on Obama's website in his blueprint for change since day one of this campaign. Leave it to Hellery to co-opt from someone else and try to claim it as her own idea.

Anywho, back in December there was an extensive comparison of Obama, Hellery, and Edward's economic and poverty plans, and Obama got the highest marks with specific mention of his initiative to establish this cabinet level department on poverty. here is the link and an excerpt:

http://www.beyondchron.org/news/index.php?itemid=5190

Of the three Democratic frontrunners, Obama’s is the only site providing specific attention to urban poverty. A seven page document posted on the website entitled “Changing the Odds for Urban America,” states that Obama would take “addressing urban America seriously” and would create a White House Office on Urban Policy. While not a blueprint, the document does address key urban issues including addressing the need for programs to “make jobs pay ” and to expand efforts to provide childcare, public transit, housing and urban reinvestment.

Does this woman have even ONE decent original idea? sheesh!

11. This is a move straight out of MLK's son this morning
I heard MLK's son this morning ask for this position. To listen to David Gregory on MSNBC you would think, that despite the Clinton's 109 million dollar income (still not sure from what) that they have their hand on the pulse of poverty more tha Obama who worked with the poor in Chicago. While I completely agree that poverty is a major issue (I'm under the poverty line) I'm not so sure that Hillary is the candidate to address it. I'm sure that John Edwards is smart enough to see through Hill's posturing.

We don't need no stinking czars..we need someone who's going to help people by easing the poverty in the country.

This sounds like hilary's offering greenspan to be on a commission to "analyze ways to resolve the mortage crisis"..as in pandering not that John Edwards couldn't handle our poverty issue.

"OK, this is pretty dumb. Hillary Clinton wants a high-level commission to analyze ways to resolve the mortgage crisis -- including Alan Greenspan.

Yes, I know people still listen when Greenspan speaks -- and John McCain once joked about taking Greenspan's advice even if he's dead. But for those in the know, AG is a key villain in the whole affair.

60. Czar derives from "Caesar"...
http://www.experiencefestival.com/a/Tsar_-_Etymology_and_spelling/id/2046045

"Tsar - Etymology and spelling

The word tsar is derived from the Latin title Caesar by way of the Old Slavonic tsesar (цесарь). The word is cognate with German Kaiser, Gothic káisar, Dutch keizer, Danish kejser, Swedish kejsare, and Norwegian keiser".

I always thought it was a stupid notion to use the word here as a title.
