Obama’s Support Softens in Poll, Suggesting a Peak Has Passed

By ADAM NAGOURNEY and MEGAN THEE

WASHINGTON — Senator Barack Obama’s support among Democrats nationally has softened over the last month, particularly among men and upper-income voters, as voters have taken a slightly less positive view of him than they did after his burst of victories in February, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.
The survey suggests that Mr. Obama, Democrat of Illinois, may have been at something of a peak in February, propelled by a string of primary and caucus victories over Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, and that perceptions of him are settling down.

Mr. Obama’s favorability rating among Democratic primary voters has dropped seven percentage points, to 62 percent, since the last Times/CBS News survey, in late February. While that figure is by any measure high, the decline came in a month during which he endured withering attacks from Mrs. Clinton and responded to reports that his former pastor had made politically inflammatory statements from his church’s pulpit in Chicago. . . . Looks like Obama may not be as electable as some may think.

18. Month old surveyusa poll has either beating McCain
Survey was from 3/6/08. I tried to find a more recent one from them, but no luck. Anyway, what I focused on were 7 states. Here's how surveyusa broke them down.

Against Obama, McCain wins FL,IN,NJ,PA,TX. Obama wins MI and OH.

Against Clinton, McCain wins IN,MI,Tx. She wins FL,NJ,PA,OH.

The good news in this is that McCain loses OH and no Republican can win without it. The not so good news is McCain taking FL, NJ and PA against Obama.

Still, I hope the numbers continue to track this way. I remain committed to the Democratic nominee, no matter who it may be.

I look forward to your contribution to "intellectual honesty".

Please check out the top twenty pro-Obama posts and point out the dishonesty of the changed article title WHENEVER it occurs. And please do so with the same tone.

Then YOU at least will have earned the the label of being intellectually honest. If you do not you will have earned the title "petty minded hypocritical divisive partisan".

The above quotes are taken directly from the article quoted. This "softening," reflects the height of the short term damage done by the Rev Wright controversy and has not yet picked up on the far more damaging and long term effects of "Sniper Gate."

is really sour on Bush. And McCain has serious vulnerabilities. That may be enough to win the WH if BO is the nominee. The buyers remorse for many may emerge in the next four years. Not because they voted dem but because they did not vote for the best dem. But...who knows. It is not something I want to have happen.

24. Nice cherry picking.
From the same article:

"Still, the events of the last month do not appear to have fundamentally altered the race for the party’s nomination or provided what Mrs. Clinton’s campaign has been seeking: evidence of a collapse in Mr. Obama’s standing or an overwhelming preference voiced for Mrs. Clinton by Democratic voters in polls, developments that could be used to persuade uncommitted superdelegates to sign on with her."

This article could just as easily be called "Hillary Clinton Still In The Shits."

Clinton's Average Lead in Two Latest Released PA Polls: 9.5% But You Must Read Between The Lines

Pollster MCall SV

Hillary Clinton 49% 49%
Barack Obama 38% 41%
Other(vol.) 13% 10%
http://www.usaelectionpolls.com/2008/polls/Pennsylvania-March-2008.html

Here are two fresh polls that we've received this afternoon and are "releasing" out on our website. We make a clear distinction between "released" and "conducted" because the average lead that Clinton holds in these two polls are 9.5% but that would give you a very false sense of reality. Obama is much closer than that right now.

Here is why these two polls could mislead you: the dates the polls were conducted! The middle date of these polls were last month despite the fact that many pollsters have surveyed this state much more recently. And in polls, more weight has to be given to most freshest of polls. So nibble on that as you look into the details of these polls.
