Are the Corpmedia Giving Hillary the Gore Treatment?
Remember how relentlessly the corporate media back in 2000 presented Gore as a pathological liar? His every statement was examined with the media microscope in search of lies and exaggerations. Not a day passed without the corporate media breathlessly relating something like the James Lee Witt "scandal" or the like.

Now we are seeing the same happening with Hillary, except this time people who say they are Democrats are gobbling up the corporate media's goodies with a spoon in each hand. (Surely a hospital wouldn't lie about sending uninsured patients out to die!)

The situation now could well be different, of course, but for anyone who was around in 2000 it seems awfully familiar.

2. yes they are
and should obama go on to win the nomination, the media will then give him the gore treatment.
i remember how many democrats said in 2000 that gore and bush were the same, and the absolute idiotic things the press laid at gores feet. of course in hind sight, the stories printed about gore have turned out to be bs, and i don't think anyone really believes that gore would have been the same as bush.

5. Yup, and probably worse
She's being put under a microscope by both the media and Obama supporters. ANYTHING that she or Bill does is criticized. They have given her a pass on absolutely nothing, while Obama skates.

I never wanted to be in the position of having to defend Hillary, but this has gone way beyond anything I've ever seen in over 40 years of elections that I've witnessed, and now I find myself defending her. And, damn it, I don't like her or Obama, but there is a matter of fairness which I respond to, and can't help myself.

8. "while Obama skates"
That's purely a temporary phenomenon. Once he has the nomination in hand, the media's tonguebaths will suddenly turn into bites and they will do their usual to Obama. Right before his devotées' eyes he will be transformed into a liar, a foreigner, a dangerous radical, etc.

How many times do we have to see this before we catch on?

And my experience is much like yours--I don't really like Hillary, but it's hard for me not to say something when I see freeper tactics in our own party.

Blame Penn if you want, but you can't blame the media for calling Hillary out on her bullshit.

21. Republicans thought the same thing in 2000.
They were convinced that Gore was a profoundly dishonest man and overjoyed that the librul media were finally waking up to it.

18. There comes a time when one must admit the truth
Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 12:49 PM by OhioBlues
the truth here is that Hillary just will not stop telling lies. The media aren't forcing her to say anything, she's coming up with all of her "I'm a hero" egotistical fairy tales ALL.BY.HERSELF.

Why, why does she think she has to make up a life? Wasn't her real one good enough?

19. The stuff the media pushed about Gore, he never lied about.
The claims that Al Gore invented the internet and that he started the Love Canal by the right were not true. Al Gore never said those things. But the media pushed them anyway.

Hillary lied about the sniper fire incident. She even apologized. It isn't even close.

If you want an example of what the media did to Gore in 2000 today, just look at the Rev Wright "scandal".

24. It's practically identical to the 2000 primary. I thought the media
was behind the "Gore is a liar" story line, but it turns out that Bill Bradley, running against Al in the primary, is the one who started this line of attack. The media just ran with it, and later republicans used it to continue to skewer Al. What a shame to see it happening again!
