Haitian Man-Tits, The White Plastic Chair, and Now Bookbaggate!

For sheer lunatic zaniness, I never thought that we would beat the man-tits and the white plastic chairs, but never say never!

Now we have people obsessively posting archival photos of students and their books, throwing up hundreds of posts debating the relative merits of satchels vs. backpacks and the social nuances of the same, and so on. Only at DU!

Can anyone else name any of the other golden classics of DU mass insanity? Have I missed any? What do you think is coming next? Is the bookbag thing really as ridiculous as it can get, or will we soon plumb new depths of lunacy?

3. That was by seventhson, a conspiracy theorist here who unmasked as a freeper.

Before revealing his true identity, however, he fooled a number of especially self-important DUers, who eagerly swallowed up all of his bizarre theorizing and never missed the chance to praise his "research" and attack those of us who knew he was a troll.

Anyway, he once advanced the novel theory that Wesley Clark had been involved in scientific experiments that caused male Haitian refugees to sprout bountiful bosoms.

At that time we had a cadre of Clark-haters who were every bit as deranged and obsessive as our current Clinton-haters, and they actually believed this story.

After the 2004 election (I think it might have been that very night, in fact), seventhson unmasked as a freeper, much to the consternation of his admirers here.

It's a classic DU story.

the "stickkk it to the man!" types, the "researchers," just couldn't get enough of seventhson.

I forgot what the plastic chairs was about, although I do remember pictures of white plastic chairs posted and compared. Why was that, again?

9. That had to do with the Nick Berg murder.

There was a plastic stacking chair in the video, which led some of our more perspicacious "researchers" to conclude that the CIA must have done the deed, since only Americans have access to plastic chairs.

So someone posted a bunch of pictures of people in the Arab world sitting in and standing around plastic chairs. I especially liked the one of an Egyptian kitchen with several plastic chairs prominently displayed.

After this, the "researchers" began arguing that the killers could not have been Arabs because they were so paunchy--apparently Arabs are all real skinny. (In response, I posted some PubMed articles about obesity in the Middle East.)

Others chimed in that the killers were wearing tennis shoes, which also seem to be something only Americans can obtain.
