Bill Clinton meltdown stuns California super delegates
Bill Clinton meltdown stuns super delegates
April 5, 2008 - 5:53am

Former President Bill Clinton, in California to try and drum up support for his wife among that state's Democratic super delegates, went into a blind rage behind closed doors and left many shaking their heads and wondering if the strain of watching Hillary go down in flames has taken his toll.

From all reports, Clinton's bizzare behavior did nothing to help his wife or her last-ditch efforts to wrest the nomination from frontrunner Barack Obama.

Reports The San Francisco Chronicle:

The Bill Clinton who met privately with California's superdelegates at last weekend's state convention was a far cry from the congenial former president who afterward publicly urged fellow Democrats to "chill out" over the race between his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Barack Obama.

In fact, before his speech Clinton had one of his famous meltdowns Sunday, blasting away at former presidential contender Bill Richardson for having endorsed Obama, the media and the entire nomination process.

"It was one of the worst political meetings I have ever attended," one superdelegate said.

2. Isn't this old news?
I'd swear this happened last week. Did it happen again? Is Bill going to California to scream at the super-duper-delegates every week? Perhaps next week they ought to just tell him to mail it in.

3. Yes, please stop recycling it. It's deliberately disruptive.
I'm strongly pro-Obama, strongly against Hillary at this point. But I don't think that just recycling or copying and pasting week-old news is a worthy or effective campaign tactic. I'd rather deal with today's news and what it means for the campaign, not news from last month.

Plus, I live in San Francisco, and if you ask me those two SF Chronicle writers are not very good journalists. They're the Ebert & Roeper of the SF political scene more than anything else - well-connected and savvy, but also shallow and willing to pass along anything that's given to them.

5. Good point! I have not trusted the SF Chron since they helped to "swift-boat"
our good CA Sec of State Kevin Shelley out of office, after he sued Diebold. Bad rag.

4. If you can't melt down over supporting your wife who is getting bashed and smeared
at every turn .. even over book bags...when can you have a melt down. Could any of you stand up under this kind of scruitny and pressure? Are any of you that loyal to your spouses as through the rough times? The hate for the Clintons is do disturbing and disgusting I can hardly believe it. First they were smeared, attacked, called names, and lied about in the 90s...largely because they were open to friendships with blacks and not afraid to appoint them to high government offices and championed many of their causes. Now, according to many of the people they supported, they are racists who will stoop to any low level to win against a black man. HRC is not a quitter and for that she is attacked. Bill and Hillary had every right to expect that the people they supported in their political careers...including BO...would support them and not turn their backs on them. Why wouldn't they be hurt now? I guess it may be because to many of the Clinton haters they are less than human?

7. well, at least you aren't attacking the sources: i.e. shooting the messengers
but instead are trying to justify hissy fits and temper tantrums as being somehow appropriate, provided that
it's your candidate.

But does the same hold true for McCain? Do you also support his tantrums as "appropriate"? Or is that just
for your candidate and her husband?

If this is how they're running their campaign, it isn't a good sign of how they'd run the country once elected.

A comparison of Clinton's and Obama's campaigns makes Barak look like an organizational genius.
