REALLY, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton should be ashamed of themselves for libeling John McCain. As a growing chorus reiterates, their refrains that Mr. McCain is “willing to send our troops into another 100 years of war in Iraq” (as Mr. Obama said) or “willing to keep this war going for 100 years” (per Mrs. Clinton) are flat-out wrong.

And yes, Obama and Clinton should drop the "100 year" canard and go after meatier issues. It's going to backfire on them if they don't.

3. Uh bullshit based on flawed premise.

The premise that a peaceful occupation of Iraq is a possibility is bullshit. McCain might imagine that such a thing is possible, but there is no evidence to back that up. Instead McCain has eagerly supported the violent criminal occupation of Iraq, has proposed staying there 'as long as it takes' and is being provided cover by an all to eager to please lapdog media that is now once again buying into the bullshit bigtime that there is a strategy for Iraq that results in some sort of victory for this failed criminal enterprise.

Until McCain renounces his support for the war and occupation, his 100 years of endless violent occupation stands as a statement he needs to be called out on and to defend. Fuck Frank Rich and the rest of the compliant media. And fuck war-hawk McCain. McCain's wishing that it would be a repeat of the peaceful occupations of Japan and Germany does not make it so.

He is trying to have it both ways. The OP quotes the first paragraph, and Rich later re-iterates that the "100 years war" attack on McCain is bogus. It isn't. Mr. Rich, in typical shoot ourselves in the foot fashion, is buying the rightwing talking point that Clinton and Obama are being unfair to poor little McCain. Rich is agreeing with them, and then later on managing to go 180 on it. Fuck Frank Rich for still, after all these years, not getting how this game is played. Our media spokespeople continue to treat the latest attacks from the rightwing spin machine as if they are legitimate opinion worthy of fair evaluation. Fuck all of them. Once again they will dither and equivocate right on to november.
