"The hill that Hillary Rodham Clinton must climb...will grow a little steeper on Monday..."
The Caucus

In Superdelegate Count, Tough Math for Clinton

By JOHN HARWOOD

The hill that Hillary Rodham Clinton must climb to beat Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination will grow a little steeper on Monday, as it has most days lately.

Margaret Campbell, a Montana state legislator, plans to declare her support for Senator Obama, of Illinois. She becomes the 69th superdelegate he has picked up since the Feb. 5 coast-to-coast string of primary elections and caucus votes.

In the same period, Senator Clinton, of New York, has seen a net loss of two superdelegates, according to figures from the Obama campaign that Clinton aides do not dispute. That erosion may dim Mrs. Clinton’s remaining hopes even more than internal campaign turmoil, which led to the ouster on Sunday of the campaign’s chief strategist, Mark Penn.

Trailing by more than 160 pledged delegates — those chosen in state primaries or caucuses — Mrs. Clinton has counted on superdelegates to help her overtake Mr. Obama with a late surge before the party’s convention in August. The party’s rules for proportional allocation make it highly difficult for her to erase Mr. Obama’s pledged delegate lead, even if she sweeps the final 10 contests.

<...>

Mrs. Clinton tried again this weekend to stem the erosion, speaking to Ms. Campbell on a campaign swing through Montana. But Ms. Campbell declined to hold out any longer, saying, “Senator Obama reminds me of why I’m a Democrat.”

Political realities or why Hillary trying to convert Obama's pledged delegates is desperation

Delayed outrage, let's talk about MI and FL

Doesn't bode well for Senator Clinton. And

I would bet there was a time when if Bill or Hillary "spoke" to you, you'd pretty much fall in line. Apparently that's not the case any longer. Didn't work with Richardson, either.

This must feel like a nightmare to Hillary.

17. Obama is doing just fine in electoral vote projections
http://www.electoral-vote.com/

He is in a virtual tie, having picked up 108 projected votes in the past week as polls updated. So...where would anyone predict the goal posts to be moved from here?

Officially, will be involved with polling and "advising." Unofficially, I doubt that anything other than his job title will change.

15. I climbed a steep hill today, too
Check out the shadow of the fire tower I was in at the top of the mountain

Off in the distance are some of the high peaks near Lake Placid. It was hard snowshoeing up today because it was warm and the snow was really granular and slippery but I kept thinking about the Goddess of Peace and the hills she has to climb and it made my climbing easier

21. Will there come a point when this is such an embarrassment to
Clinton she will snap back to reality? If Obama has gained 69 and she's lost 2, the writing is on the wall.

Mont. superdelegate retracts Obama endorsement, citing party rule

Associated Press - April 7, 2008 4:04 PM ET

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Montana superdelegate Margaret Campbell says she is being forced to retract her endorsement of Barack Obama.

Campbell is a state lawmaker from Poplar, and vice chairwoman of the state party.

Earlier today she said she was endorsing Obama, after the Illinois senator and rival Hillary Clinton visited Montana over the weekend.

A short time later, Campbell said Montana Democratic Party rules prevented her from endorsing a candidate in a contested primary.

Obama did pick up the backing of Jeanne Lemire Dahlman, a national committeewoman. However, Dahlman says she may reconsider if Montana voters pick Clinton in the state's June 3rd primary.

With Dahlman, Obama has commitments from 3 of Montana's eight superdelegates.

Obama adds another super

Posted: Monday, April 07, 2008 5:48 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
Obama is now within 29 superdelegates of Clinton (255-226), as he added one more superdelegate to his total today. National committeewoman Jeanne Lemire Dahlman told AP, and the campaign confirms to First Read, that she is throwing her support to the Illinois senator.

Obama now leads by 135 in the overall delegate count, 1,642-1,507. He has a 164 pledged-delegate lead, 1,416-1,252.
