Book: McCain temper boiled over in '92 tirade, called wife a 'c*nt'
Nick Juliano
Published: Monday April 7, 2008

John McCain's temper is well documented. He's called opponents and colleagues "shitheads," "assholes" and in at least one case "a fucking jerk."

But a new book on the presumptive Republican nominee will air perhaps the most shocking angry exchange to date.

The Real McCain by Cliff Schecter, which will arrive in bookstores next month, reports an angry exchange between McCain and his wife that happened in full view of aides and reporters during a 1992 campaign stop. An advance copy of the book was obtained by RAW STORY.

Three reporters from Arizona, on the condition of anonymity, also let me in on another incident involving McCain’s intemperateness. In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain’s hair and said, “You’re getting a little thin up there.” McCain’s face reddened, and he responded, “At least I don’t plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt.” McCain’s excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days.

3. As someone who is married
and has said some quite awful things to my spouse, I have to give this a big so what?

Now if he called Hillary a c*nt that would be a problem. I don't think that this is evidence of a bad temper but one of a foul mouth.

Sometimes spouses take us to the brink and over.

There's a difference between what you say at home and what you say out in public.

46. You are right there is a difference between home and public speak
but regardless of what anyone says people fly off the handle with their spouses and say inappropriate things. I could care less on how he deals with his wife and more about how he will deal with the war if he were (God forbid) elected.

What he does in his personal life (even when it spills out into the public) is his business and not anyone else's. Just as Bill and Hillary's marriage or Michelle and Barack's marriage.

I think that there are many things to zing McCain with that don't involve how he talks to his wife.

19. I'm married, and somehow I have managed never to call my wife a c*nt
or any other name, for that matter. I don't give him a pass for this at all. If he is as unstable as the evidence suggests, what's to stop him from having a blow up at some critical time while president?

22. How sad!
No, such verbal abuse is not the accepted norm between couples. I feel sorry for you and the state of your marriage.
No doubt that we sometimes say terrible things to our spouses that we regret later. However, there are certain words that no decent person says. The c word is one of them, as well as the N word.

32. There are so many people
outside of your marriage who may be against either of you and cut you down, don't think that you should be more kind and supportive to the person who loves you and plans to spend the rest of your lives together?

Then again, You are the person you have to spend the rest of your life with and if you can live with yourself after hurting your closest relative, it's your life.

John: No, your ass makes your ass look fat, cunt.

Cindy: Oh, John! You're such a kidder, you baby-murdering fucker.

John: I'm so glad I left my first wife for you, my little pill-stealing whore.

Cindy: My, you ARE feeling frisky! Take me now, you beast! I'm so hot!

John: I love you, my little drug-addicted cunt!

Cindy: I love you, baby-murdering war criminal!

John: Just remember... I'll fuck you in any hole you want, but I have to deny you my essence.

Edited on Mon Apr-07-08 11:37 AM by Divernan
Somebody get him a language coach. This term was "in" back in the 1600's! Like strumpet. "Trollop" is a word I've read in very old books - never heard it spoken by anyone.

Since then the English speaking world has progressed through harlot and slattern, to tart and floozy (my grandmother's terms of derision), to hussy (a term learned at my mother's knee and other joints), to tramp (Sinatra's The Lady is a Tramp)to bimbo to ho to skank.
