Trivia question: GE Candidate Income

With the astonishingly flush bank accounts of the clintons now being made semi-transparent, I have seen a few "oh yeah, well the obamas have money too!" posts...

My question- Have any real candidates (not talking nader here) in the general Election entered into the process with less personal funds than the obamas in the last several decades?

1. I think the answer to that is Bill Clinton

2. Clinton was worth about $700k going into 1992. Carter was worth about $600k.

Obama's worth somewhere between $450k and $1.1m. I don't believe any Republican candidate has been worth less than $2m, usually more.

$700k in 1992, when the dollar was worth around 90mg of gold, would be $2.1 million now, when gold is at 30mg to the dollar.
