Tell me why, Oh please tell me why, does Obama
not want every vote to count? This is American, we are the Democrat Party, we have pushed for voting rights for ever..
Help him to see what this will do to our Party, if he puts the party first and not his ambition, he will allow these folks the vote.

63. Tell your Scottie to do some fact checking
Obama does not want to count the votes from FL and MI - period the end. When MI had a deal to hold another primary, he REFUSED to back it, thus killing the counting of votes. RW type spin that not counting the votes in FL and MI, isn't REALLY (wink, wink) not counting votes due to some stupid rules is still a lie. Obama is just as self serving and has probably lied every bit as much as Clinton, the msm just isn't covering it. They want Obama and are totally lying down in wait, ready to spring their trap.

Where, oh where, is Al Gore when we need him???

104. hang on... just because he refused to back a revote plan in MI
that would have been almost as unfair as counting the votes cast without him on the ballot, why does that mean he doesn't want their votes to count? If there is a fair re-vote primary with Barack on the ballot, he should kick ass in Michigan. It's Hillary who wants this farce of democratic process to count as if it were perfectly fair to begin with.

That's why I can't stand her, she only defends the constitution when it's in her favor, otherwise to hell with it. :grr:

76. Only from rightwing sources do you hear this Democrat Party crap.

It has always been called the Democratic Party by Democrats. But the Republics thought they were being incredibly clever by calling it the Democrat Party instead. It wasn't, but years of it did succeed in getting under our skin.

So even if the person calling our party "Democrat" is not a troll, they have clearly been getting their information on all things Democratic from the other side.

Though in this instance, "this is American" in place of "this is America" pretty much suggests the OP just has a grammar issue.

If so, why not use one of the the 30 other threads on this topic?

And he has never said he does not want the votes to count, just that they should not count when he did not have a fair chance to compete. I do think he made a mistake in not pushing harder for a revote in Michigan, but he has always said he wants to find a way to seat the Florida and Michigan delegations.

68. What do you mean he didn't try hard enough for a MI revote.
Everyone agreed to it but him, they even came up with the funds so taxpayers wouldn't have to foot the bill, and BO refused to agree to it. He was afraid too. In FL he was the ONLY one that ran ads. He had more exposure than the others and he told them if he won he would see their votes got counted. So if he wins the nomination do you think those people whose votes don't count because of him will vote for him now?

God, don't you pay attention. Obama first wanted all the supers to vote the way their state did and got totally outed during a debate. He was first asked how the supers should vote, his answer - the way their state did. Then he was asked about Kerry and Kennedy. He laughed, stammered, then said well, he'd rethink that one, and well they should vote the way the "nation" did, totally doing a 180 in less than 1/2 minute.

tomato vs tahmato - same thing.

18. Which votes? FL & MI? It was the DNC that so decreed.
Obama simply followed the rules; Hillary skated around them.

It was stupid to penalize the voters of FL and MI for the misdeeds of the Party leadership there (abetting the mess the GOP made in FL). But seating the delegates as they are now constituted would be to reward Hillary for cheating on the rules that she had also agreed to.

I and everyone I know voted. The DNC has NEVER in it's history disallowed delegates at the national convention, even when the other states flouted the rules. Why should this time be different? Which is more important, arcane rules or vote counting? One is an important value, the other is not. Do you think it was OK for African-Americans not to be able to vote due to poll taxes? After all "it's the rules"? Well, screw the stupid rules. Voting is more important. This is one of the bedrock reasons I don't support Obama and will never contribute one dime to him if he wins the nomination. I will vote for him because he's better than "all war, all the time", but he's at the very bottom of the list of my fav Dems.

24. how many times do you guys want to be shamed about your own rules
The crocodile tears that are now being shed about Florida and Michigan are the latest and most disingenuous of the Clinton campaign. The fact is that the idea of drawing a line in the sand so that you would end up with a de facto national primary was from page one of the Clinton playbook.

Having twenty or thirty states vote on the same day, the theory went, would favor the candidate with the most money, the most experience and the most organizational support with connections with many local governors and mayors already on board.

This strategy would only work if, repeat if, there was a draconian line in the sand. If the line was too weak - like 50% representation then states would be tempted to be in the head of the line and settle for half of the delegates. Even with the draconian line two states called the bluff (and as Madfloridian has proved they did it laughing at the DNC).

This is what their representatives wanted and Harold Ickes was on the committee and voted for it. Clinton's strongest base of support is not with the elected super delegates but the DNC delegates that control the party machinery where she locked up 140 early endorsements.

By November everything looked great for the Clintons. They got the ironclad rule with the draconian penalty that they needed. Twenty Four primaries and caucuses took the bait and jumped to the front of the line for Super Super Tuesday on Feb 5th. The other element that they hoped for was a big field of candidates. As long as there was a big field then the Clinton had a solid 40% the other candidates would split the rest and the Clintons would win big.

And then the plan began to unravel. The field ended up being only three candidates. In the first contest, Iowa Clinton finished third place. By the time Super Super Tuesday came that 40%+ ended up being not just a floor but also a ceiling. The Clinton campaign had banked everything on February 5th. They had no real plan for the caucus states and low on money. The junior senator from Illinois won in delegates and popular votes and then launched 12 straight victories.

Now as the last 15% of the primary season is upon us and being irretrievably behind the Clinton camp will bang the drum of injustice for the exclusion of Michigan and Florida. The big lie is that they are now painting themselves as having been absolutely against the injustice. The truth was having a draconian penalty was key to making sure that a huge number of states would line up one a single date. It looked like a good idea up to Feb 4th.

Now as the dust settles over the non snipers and the shameless self promotion we are treated to a really skilled prevaricator. As the falsehood of the Clinton position is heaped on an unsuspecting public day after day, as the Clintons beat the drum of Florida and Michigan you only can admire such professional deception - too bad we don't have a youtube of the DNC meetings.

You missed three gorgeous threads in a row this morning

1.) Obama is a terrorist
2.) There was overwhelming evidence for the invasion of Iraq. Obama was only against the war because his base of blacks (who were against the war because they oppose white man's wars against people of color) and Arabs (who apparently make up a majority in the south side of Chicago)were against the war.
3.) Black ministers are responsible for black crime

47. Mags: I believe this has been discussed to death but as a quick recap...
Obama isnt the one trying to disenfranchise...no one is....the ones to blame here are the original states that didnt follow the rules and KNEW the consequences...the state controlllers are the ones to blame and the people of those states should blame their leaders...neither the DNC, nor Clinton, nor Obama are to blame at all!!

However, lets look at this objectively: Obama has NEVER said he wants to disenfranchise the voters of FL and MI...he offered to settle this with a 50/50 split to Hillary....Hillary refused...her only acceptable offer is for her delegates that she got from the invalid primaries to be seated....when she couldnt get that it was ONLY then that she switched tunes and wanted primary redos...Obama had issues with the problem that voters, who decided since their vote would not count would vote in the repub, from the invalid contest would now be disenfranchsied with this new redo, among other issues....

There is no doubt that MI and FL delegates will be seated...the only matter is the apportionment which will be decided later this year by Obama which is likely to be 50/50....

so really, the voters will not be disenfranchised, it was never Obama's intentions....so write a letter to FL and MI fatcat leaders and let them know how they were the ones that cost Hillary a potential delegate or two.

48. Hillary didn't care at all if every vote counted, until it became a useful tool to bash Obama(VIDEO)
"I personally did not think it made any difference whether my name was on the ballot. You know, It's clear this election they are having is not going to count for anything."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xHRqi8nsvI

If you argue that Obama is "disenfranchising" the voters, that means Hillary was in support of disenfranchising those voters before the vote. She didn't care if her name was on the ballot, even!

So, did she change her mind after? Is that how it worked? Why wouldn't she say something to stand up to the "disenfranchising of the voters" beforehand, instead of supporting that disenfranchising with her statements?

80. Obama vs Clinton on FL/MI.

Obama has endorsed the following which Hillary opposes:

o a revote open to all registered voters
o a mail-in revote
o a caucus
o a 50/50 split so the state's are represented at the convention (which does more than just nominate the presidential candidate, you know)

Hillary has endorsed the following which Obama opposes:

o no revote
o a revote only by those who voted before

So Obama favors more options including those that would allow the most voters, yet certain Hillary supporters continue to push this meme that HE is trying to disenfranchise voters more than Hillary. Up is down.

Give me a break. They both signed the same pledge. She spoke publicly about how they would not count.

If she had any problem with it then she should have spoken up THEN. Period. The only reason she gives a shit NOW is because she NEEDS them. And nobody is buying her bullshit and nobody is going to bend the rules for some sniveling entitled egomaniacal little whiner who is throwing a temper tantrum 'cause the game ain't going their way.

You know damn well that a re-vote isnt up to Obama. It's not his decision.
