Poll question: Obama VP, who do you like
I'd like to see Boxer or Richardson.

15. Biden gives Obama added clout
He's a Senate veteran, and knowledgeable on many issues, particularly foreign affairs. He's well-known and well-liked. Whereas some may question Obama's age and experience (and hey, maybe even skin color - which he's helping people move past), Biden gives people a familiar face. He would provide good balance to the ticket.

Richardson isn't bad either, given his vast experience.

17. In my opinion, Biden
is light years beyond the two candidates we are left with. I would have loved to cast my vote for him, but will probably go Obama at this point.

3. I'd rather it not be a Senator, but if it is going to be one, I would pick Jim Webb
I think he has the foreign policy experience and the ability to get support form the repukes.

6. General Clark.
I don't share the enthusiasm for Richardson -- I thought he seemed somewhat feeble in this year's campaign (contrasted with '04). He seemed forgetful, unfocused, didn't "hear" questions, and overall unpersuasive and weak.

I guess Webb would be okay, although I'm not sure he shares all of Obama's policy stands. Boxer would be fine, but I'd be wary of another long Senate voting record to pick over -- and, I don't think she'd help him with those who insist he's "too liberal."

IF he were to go with another legislator, I think Biden would be a better choice for Obama.

I'm not sure who else would be a good fit. No doubt that list is being compiled, though!

8. I'd like a Democrat if Obama gets the nom. But the way Obama talks...
I wouldn't be surprised if he selects a Republican or Independent.

14. we need every democratic senator where they are
Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 10:23 AM by crankychatter
no exceptions

further, the west is the new south

richardson brings votes (correct me if I'm wrong, but all of the others here bring states with them that we will already get)... Now I don't know New Mexico but if Richardson's as unpopular there, as Edwards is in Carolina, then I may be wrong.

obama's percieved centrism will be a deciding factor in the independent vote and republicans, unhappy with the war, crossovers - that's why the perception should be maintained for the general election

I love all the folks mentioned... and further, I think the anti-hispanic, illegal immigrant reactionary voters, that some assert richardson will alienate, is NOT our demographic anyway.

not a draw back at all
