Poll question: Is Hillary Clinton correct in thinking that Afghanistan hearings should be held in a subcommittee?
This apparently seems to be what Hillary Clinton thinks.

Afghanistan, where we are sending troops and fighting in that treacherous terrain, is pretty important by nealr all foreign policy experts and many might consider a front-burner issue. Most matters are being addressed in the full Senate Foreign Relations Committee (which Obama is a member), not a subcommittee.

Subcommittee hearings are generally for matters that are not front burner issues.

So, if Hillary Clinton thinks hearings on Afghanistan should be held in a subcommittee, then it should be assumed she thinks Afghanistan is not that important.

So is Hillary Clinton correct in thinking Afghanistan isn't important enough to be fully addressed?

1. As long as Obama isn't the chairperson. We need actual hearings.
His track record isn't the greatest.

6. Since his committee does not have jurisdiction over Afghanistan, that shouldn't be a problem
Kerry's the chair of the Near East and South and Central Asian Affairs Subcommittee and I believe he has held hearings on Afghanistan.

2. The only way that trust can be restored is if everything is out in the open.
Mrs. Clinton, Tear DOWN the FACADE hiding the Media-Military-Industrial-Private-War Business Complex.

3. You ask this question without knowing what Hillary actually thinks?

7. You win the award for the "Most Stupid Poll Ever"!!!
Maybe you should bone up on committee's and subcommittee's within the Congress and Senate. "Subcommittees are formed by most committees to share specific tasks within the jurisdiction of the full committee." In other words, delegating to a subcommittee does not mean that the issue is "not important". This is the typical process. She is correct in thinking that these hearings would be held in subcommittee. BTW...I love your choices in the poll!! You should have just created one that asked if Clinton could do anything right and made the choices No and No. She is just damned if she does and damned if she doesn't in the eyes of some.

9. So, should Senator Obama have told the Near East Asia and South Asia Chairman, Senato Kerry that
this was his area. Senator Kerry did have a hearing and here is a link. http://kerry.senate.gov/newsroom/kerrypress013008.ram

8. Not to mention there was an Afghanistan hearing in a subcommittee!
where It's Chairman presented the results of three major reports. Here is a link to the press release: http://kerry.senate.gov/cfm/record.cfm?id=291980 and to a video of the briefing on it. http://kerry.senate.gov/newsroom/kerrypress013008.ram

Imagine the SFRC had an Afghanistan hearing in the Near East and South Asia committee - because Afghanistan itself is in the Near East. Maybe HRC should ask Senator Biden to tell that committee's head, Senator Kerry, not to steal Obama's rightful topics! I'm sure they would consider it for an appropriate amount of time.
