Sen. Rockefeller Calls McCain to Apologize

Regrets comments to West Virginia newspaper critical of McCain’s war service.

Statement: “I have deep respect for John McCain’s honorable and noble service to our country. I made an inaccurate and wrong analogy and I have extended my sincere apology to him…. I regret my very poor choice of words.”

Interview suggested McCain was indifferent to those hit by weapons he dropped as a Vietnam War fighter pilot.

“He was long gone when they hit. What happened when they get to the ground? He doesn’t know. You have to care about the lives of people. McCain never gets into those issues.”

McCain team had called on Obama to denounce his supporter’s comment.

1. is this really how its going to be, they are going to ask Obama to denounce everything that others..
say? Obama needs to get on this, or he is going to be denouncing until Nov.

5. THEY don't need to get into that....
I'm just saying that the average person can handle as much TRUTH as they can B.S....

there are plenty of Dems, not directly involved with either BO or HRC, who can sustain the exposure of McCain's apparent love for all things war, especially in respect to his own history....

7. not to sustain a back and forth..
the RW will attack ANYONE on this matter, just to 'make it stop and go away' before it becomes effective...

let THEM be in the position of DEFENDING McCain...this isn't Kerry '04...this war has people in a different frame of mind...

if they would not attack HRC about this...is it possible she has a position closer to McCain's than Obama's?

12. Ewwww I heard about that
McCain asked Obama to denounce Rockefeller's statements but Obama refused. Sadly.

8. But McCain DID think that bringing death from above was a viable career path...
why should Rockefeller apologize?
Most people forget, or are unaware of, that the vast majority of Vietnam POWs were officers and pilots.
They were not poor sonosbitches drafted from the farm or some urban hellhole, but career military AKA professional killers

10. We are no longer allowed to question the validity of THAT war.
Nor are we allowed to ask why sometimes using an airplane to blow people up is a crime against humanity and sometimes using an airplane to blow people up is honorable and noble.

These are not questions we can ask.
