30. A lot.
If he wants to keep them there, more will die. It's not a big leap, not a leap at all.

Btw, he himself said he didn't know how he would have voted. And he doesn't seem to be damning Kerry for voting the same way Hillary did, nor do his flock here.

And another question - does he want to stop the dying of US troops in Iraq to bring them home, or to put them "on the right battlefields" as he has said?

Yes, if you are going to damn Hillary for every death in Iraq, then you have to damn the politicians who want to leave many of them there, or move them to die in yet another country.

34. FYI-He sponsored the "Iraq De-Escalation Act." ALSO, as you SHOULD know,
he said he didn't know how he would have voted only to protect Kerry and Edwards since the interview was right before his keynote speech in support of them-and they both voted for it.

He does NOT want to keep them there. He wants to bring them home. And putting them "on the right battlefields" is exactly what he SHOULD be doing, duh. He wants to finally get the people responsible for attacking us.

41. Wow.
I can't believe you are defending him for saying something for purely political reasons, supposedly on the issue that he feels so deeply about that it all but defines him. Unbelievable.

And if he puts them "on the right battlefields" of Afghanistan and Pakistan, with or without their approval, one would assume, how the hell is he going to bring them home?

And again, how can he, and people in this thread, damn Hillary and wish her anguish over that vote, while Obamaa covers for Edwards and Kerry by modifying his supposed opposition to the vote/war, and actually gush and praise Kerry for backing Obama?

Hillary voted for the IWR - she's an evil warmonger responsible single-handedly for thousands of deaths

Kerry voted for the IWR - he's a hero and a good man who had the good sense to back Obama

I mean, really, wtf?

51. Wow!
I can't believe you think he should've said it was wrong for Kerry and Edwards to vote for the war right before he gave a speech for them! (But he DID say the case wasn't made at the end of his interview).

I also can't believe you have something against a CIC using the military for its intended use!

WTH are you talking about "gush and praise Kerry for backing Obama"?? Get real.

Hillary and Kerry were BOTH wrong for voting for the IWR! Kerry, at least, said he was wrong. But he's just as guilty as she is for voting for it!

I mean, really, :wtf:

56. I think if he's going to run on his convictions he should hold to them and not modify them for
political expediency.

And I think if he's going to say he's going to bring the troops home, then he shouldn't instead send them to fight in new nations on new battlefields. Which one is it? Home or new war?

And if you've missed the praise of Kerry here from those who damn Hillary for her vote, then I guess you were out that month.

Little difference in saying "sorry" and "regret."

Glad to see that if you blame one, you blame them both. I hope Kerry gets time to morn those he's sent to death in between campaigning for a guy who uses that vote to demonize Hillary.

58. Get real...
He was ALWAYS against it.

He always said he was going to get the troops out of Iraq and that we'd get back to fighting al Qaeda where they ARE. The ones who attacked us-bin Laden. Obama's been VERY consistent in his position.

Hillary said she'd like to have that vote BACK when pressed on it.

I blame Edwards, too. I blame ALL of 'em who voted for it.

Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 09:08 PM by Skip Intro

you're very good at evading questions, but I do have one more to repeat for you - if he's going to send them off to new wars, then why is he claiming he wants to bring them home?

60. He said he'll just leave enough troops in the AREA to protect our embassy and to be
within striking distance IF there are flare ups again in Iraq.

AGAIN-he ALWAYS said the same thing-that he wants to go after those who attacked us on 9/11, and those people are in the Afghanistan area. He NEVER said our troops would all get to come home and never have to go anywhere. AGAIN-GET REAL!

3. Bush had tears today?
What happened?

And for the record, I never thought we should make fun of Clinton for crying or call it insincere. I started crying a few weeks ago because I was so upset at the way the media was beating up Obama over Reverend Wright and I am just a supporter. I don't blame Clinton for getting frustrated and choking up in New Hampshire.

17. Let's not okay. . . ?
He cried at his first inaugural also.

He probably was overwhelmed at the enormity of their coup.

Perhaps this time it was because he couldn't possibly imagine EVER embodying the selflessness of that soldier.

That may have been semi sincere.

It's all mere speculation but reminded me of this.

". . .Crocodile tears and a pocket full of tissues. . . "
