I need Barack Obama?
Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 07:46 PM by Hepburn
Some Hillary supporter just told me that Obama would not be there when I need him. Interesting statement because I was listening to the TV and there was a remark that was made just prior to this inane Hillbot post to me. What was said was:

The difference between the Obama supporters and the Clinton supporters is that the Obama supporters do not feel a NEED for Obama whereas the Clinton supporters feel a NEED for her. ~~Paraphrase~~

And, you know what? That is true ~~ at least as to the part about Obama supporters as far as I am concerned. I have never felt a NEED for any candidate...ever. It really hit me as odd that the Clintonista would say to me something about NEEDING Obama ~~ my thinking about things political does not encompass this type of emotion or needy feeling. Frankly, I don't think I have ever felt "needy" in my life. Maybe that is what differentiates the Obama supporters from the Clinton supporters?

So...how do others feel about this? Obama supporters? Do you NEED Obama? I sure as hell don't. Do I want him elected because I think he would be a benefit to the US? Well, hell yes! But....look to him for things I need?? WTF????

5. Well, yeah, in a sense....
...I can see the NEED for Obama to be the nominee over Clinton because she cannot beat McCain...but do I feel the NEED for any specific candidate? Ummm..no.

6. Only thing I NEED is not to have another repug elected.
That arises to the level of necessity. Beyond that I WANT Obama to be the next President but I understand that he will not miraculously fulfill the needs and desires of the country. We have to work together to accomplish that on a local and national level.

7. I think as a country we need his leadership, his intelligence,
his common sense, the job he'd do.

But do *I* need him? No. How odd.

10. Really odd....
...the statement was that when I needed him he would not be there for me.

Sheesh...I have always seen gov't as never being there for me...so I have always taken care of myself! I am not really sure of what I might "need" from Obama as to my personal life!

14. I believe that
history calls people forth. Ordinary people can do extraordinary things, as Elizabeth de la Vega says. Baraka Obama is stepping up to try to do what he believes is most important for our country at this time. I think that he is fully aware that to accomplish this, he needs us ordinary people to step up, too.

15. "Frankly, I don't think I have ever felt "needy" in my life." --
You whole OP actually makes the point that a lot of us Hillarites are making about the Obamatron/Hillbot dichotomy: Obamatrons tend to be well-to-do, well-educated, "successful" people who have no NEEDS for the government to address. Obamatrons also tend to look down on people who have the need for help.

Obamatrons are far too often philisophically Republican, and only Democratic when it comes to fashion and lifestyle. Their views about society and inequality are pretty much in line with Rush Limbaugh and other crude social darwinists, except Obamatrons would rather wear turtlencks than ties, earth tones rather than preppy pastels, and birkenstocks than wingtips.

The average "needy" American resents establishment elitists. He resents establishment elitists who like to pretend they're all anti-establishment scruffy bohemians EVEN MORE.

17. You make no sense whatsoever.
So explain all the Democrats I know around me who are Obama supporters and are middle class or lower. Who have voted Dem all their lives.

How in the WORLD can you group a person's supporters into clothing types? Seriously. How?

You know who I voted for Obama with in my precinct? A whole lot of African-American people who would laugh in your face if you called them preppy or said their beliefs are in line with Rush Limbaugh. And some white people who would do the same.

That's just a crazy theory you have there, LOL.

20. Very Interesting -- Maybe Hillbots (who are mostly women) "need" her because it brings to light
womens need to stay connected in a group and get all emotional and their possible hardships by men and with her in office she is sure to make them feel they aren't the "behind every great man is a woman" thing -- equals? So maybe this "need" is a way of coming from out of the shadows and being noticed as strong by the rest of the world?!?!? Women, please help me.

As for the Hillbot supporters who are men.....they're gay...they've got to be because how else do you explain why they support hillary :hi:

24. And the candidates perpetrate this...
Obama - "WE can, WE will"

Hillary - "I'LL do this for you, I'll do that for you"

One fosters coming together and everyone contributing to getting something done. The other fosters dependency.
