Jon Corzine “Clinton is the most qualified and prepared to be our next president”

Jon Corzine “Clinton is the most qualified and prepared to be our next president”

……….That said, I truly believe Senator Clinton is the most qualified and prepared to be our next president. I unequivocally support her candidacy.

My point on SquawkBox was and remains that superdelegates should consider a number of factors in their final decision, particularly after the primaries and caucuses have run their course.

Clearly, the cumulative delegate totals must be considered. Absolutely, the cumulative popular vote is important. And, a practical analysis of electability and the electoral map must be weighed.

For me, the most important of those factors is the popular vote since Democrats have rightfully and passionately long argued that every vote should be counted. Practically, that popular vote should include participation of the fourth and eighth largest states in the nation. Most Democrats agree that ignoring the voices of Florida and Michigan is a mistake and threatens to impact the outcome of the fall elections.

Like many, I fear that not considering the wishes of millions of Democratic voters in those states will taint the attitude of voters everywhere about our ultimate nominee. Early polling in Florida has already indicated as much.

Without a "do over" for those states, the short-term gain could well come with long-term pain for our nominee, the party and the nation.

The party should be responsible and raise funds for a primary "do-over" in a way that doesn't give the competitive edge to one candidate over the other.

46. Corzine???

I live in NJ. Corzine is the most despised politician in memory. He would not get elected if he ran today and an endorsement by him is the kiss of death. Good thing for Hillary is that Corzine will likely switch especially once he calls her the best candidate.

56. Yes, supporting the will of the people IS the logical choice. Pity Clinton is unwilling to.
Face the facts: overturning the popular vote/delegate count IS stealing the election, and is no different than how we got Bush.

Once Corzine figures out who is going to win, he will get right out in front of the parade. If you are an Obama supporter you do NOT want Corzine campaigning for you here in NJ. Corzine is hated, even by his own party.

10. Jon Corzine, Clinton Superdelegate, Hints At Switching Support
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/03/jon-corzine-clinton-super_n_94848.html

CORZINE: I'm a superdelegate. I'm going to look at delegate selection, who has the most. I'm going to look at the popular vote. who has the most votes.

Not the popular vote, and not the numbers. Can that person win given the fact that that person may be able to take all the big states that the other person couldn't?

CORZINE: I think it would be a very hard argument to make. No, I'm a very aggressive supporter of Senator Clinton, I think you need, at least a popular vote.

Are you saying as a superdelegate and a Hillary Clinton supporter, if she does not have the popular vote you would take your superdelegate vote and support Barack Obama?

CORZINE: I don't think it will have to be a question.

Reserving the right...

CORZINE: Kind of reserving the right.

You almost made a headline there, you know that? You pulled back, though.

CORZINE: Reserving the right. I do think the popular vote, but I believe Michigan and Florida need to be included in that and that's very frustrating that it's being blocked.

and since you neglected to include it in the OP I added it so that people would know that this wasn't a spontaneous outburst of love by the governor but in a weak moment on an early morning TV show he nearly gave the bank away. If you watch the TV clip it is clear that he is resigned that the Clinton campaign is not going to make it. Afterwards he had to come back and try and clean up his mess.

23. Let's take a closer look at Governor Corzine's preventable accident
Thanks for pointing it out.

By his own admission, Governor Corzine did NOT wear his seat belt.

http://www.dailyprincetonian.com/archives/2007/04/16/news/18094.shtml

Let's flashback to April 16th, 2007.

Corzine in stable condition after crash

By Jonathan Zebrowski

Published: Monday, April 16th, 2007

New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine remains in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J., after a severe car accident on the Garden State Parkway in Galloway Township on Thursday night left him unable to breathe without the aid of a ventilator.

Corzine broke 12 ribs along with his sternum, collarbone and left leg in the accident, which occurred when a red pickup truck swerved onto the highway, forcing another pickup into the path of the governor's car. Corzine's driver, state trooper Robert Raksinski, subsequently lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid the truck and hit a guardrail.

The governor — who was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt — lost about half of the blood in his body and underwent several surgeries, including two separate operations on his leg and removal of fluid that had collected outside his left lung.

Corzine, an ex officio trustee of the University, cannot speak because he is connected to a breathing tube and thus remains incapable of performing his gubernatorial duties. New Jersey Senate President Dick Codey has assumed Corzine's official duties, as the state does not have a lieutenant governor.

54. 6 million dollar girlfriend.

Corzine dated (screwed) Carla Katz. Carla, a bow wow in the looks department, happened to be the head of the largest State union here in NJ. Since the "breakup" Corzine has given the head of the largest State union and former girlfriend over six million dollars in parting gifts. He continues to pay the out of state tuition of Carla's two boys, I guess she is not too fond of sending her children to NJ public schools.

Corzine is hated here in NJ and he will turn NJ RED, an almost impossible task for anyone else. Corzine is poison.

31. My esteemed Gov Corzine is trying to put a financial albatross around NJ's neck
Please take whatever this man says with a grain of salt, regardless of whom you support in this election.

He is a man determined to punish New Jersey for rejecting his "financial restructuring" plan, which include such vapid ideas as selling/leasing toll roads, auction-rate bonds, reducing aid to hospitals, and other gimmicks of dubious value. All the while, sacred cows like the following remain undisturbed:

*** Spending $800,000 taxpayer dollars for and then concealing a comissioned study about how to close our $36 billion budget gap.

*** "pay-to-play", which is illegal in nearly every other state of the Union except NJ.

*** Pension padding, which is the practice of accumulating multiple pensions through multiple part-time state jobs

*** Some 8,000 (last count I heard of) political appointment jobs. Some of them, "fill-in-the-blank advisors" have no job description at all.

*** Short-circuited the Legislature's efforts to negotiate with the state workers' union, and took that on himself. Never mind that the head of the union is his former girlfriend, to whom he provided a huge financial gift (estimated by the NY Times to be worth $6 million) and for whose two kids *HE* is paying private school tuition.

Having amassed a $300 million fortune at Goldman Sachs, the next prize was Senator from NJ, and now Governor of NJ. We here in NJ don't believe he has presidential aspirations, but something like Treasury Secretary would be greatly appealing to him. Many times we were facing problems in the state, but instead he took off to go campaign for Clinton. His now wavering support for Hillary is a way to ensure that he can get some position in an Obama administration, because he doesn't want to be around to clean up the mess he's creating in New Jersey.
