American Postal Workers Union Endorse Obama

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/04/special_delivery_postal_worker.html#comments

No, the endorsement is not in the mail. The American Postal Workers Union announced its support for Barack Obama with an e-mail sent to reporters a few minutes ago.

The union, which claims to be the largest postal union in the world, said its executive board voted to endorse Obama today.

"We are most impressed by Sen. Obama's commitment to eradicating the undue influence of special interests in the political process, union president William Burrus said in a statement. "Our current political system does not allow for the voices of average citizens to be heard over the demands of lobbyists and big-money campaign contributors."

The union says it represents approximately 300,000 postal workers with clerical, maintenance and motor vehicle-related jobs.

39. Hey.
They didn't include the 1980 incident in New Orleans.

http://bulk.resource.org/courts.gov/c/F2/690/690.F2d.431.81-3662.html

That's the only link I can find. The date is wrong. It says Nov 24, 1980 but it was Nov 04, 1980.

I remember the day well. I saw that Raygun was about to win by a landslide and I went to bed heartsick.
The phone rang early Nov 5th with one of my best friends screaming if I'd read the paper. I said yes I knew that RR had one the election and how awful, yada yada. Well actually, she was referring to the NOLA Postal incident. We went to school with the victim and we also knew her attacker quite well.

It seemed to me that the 1980 incident kicked off the 80s wave of shootings.

endorsed:

From their site:

For NALC, Hillary Clinton has been an
unwavering friend and ally.

44. that is true, however, we're talking breaking news, not 6 month old decisions
that were made very early on in the process with arm-twisting. William Young and his staff should have waited a few months longer like most unions typically do. I would think of the dozen or so unions that endorsed her in Ohio in '07, several if not most would not do it today. That's a nice pic of Hillary btw. I think she's been a little worn out lately, I can only imagine what this process does to a body, her and Obama have to be exhausted.

Obama has been looking a little worn out as well.
He is starting to get deep wrinkles in his forehead. Just sayin'.

50. I agree, her and Obama have to be exhausted - not good for the GE with her staying in just to drop
out after PA when she either barely wins or barely loses to Barack, when weeks ago it was how much is she going to win by - 15 or 20 points, and therefore give her some push to make an excuse to stick around to the end.

43. I started to send this to my dad
My dad is a retired Postal carrier, and unfortunately, a right-winger (although still a union man, go figure)! Then I noticed it was not the letter carriers' union. They endorsed Hillary.

Either way, I know my dad will be voting for McSame. Unfortunately, against his own best interests.
