Note: This is a very pro Obama thread, so because of that I ask Clinton supporters to only read at their own risk.
With that aside...
During all of last year, I looked at polls. I saw Obama go up, I saw him go down. For most of the year, it looked like he had no chance. I looked at it state by state every couple of days, always hoping to see improvements.
I was for him all of last year, but to be honest, I had no hope. I did not think it was possible for him to overcome Hillary. Nothing would have made me happier than to see Obama become the next President of the United States.
Then once December came, he slowly started going up in the polls. Even though it was a great sign, he was still down by double digits. I told myself not to get too excited.
Then, it happened.
The headlines went around the World, OBAMA HAD WON IOWA! I was so excited that night, but at the same time I was still full of doubt.
Video reaction at LA Headquarters:

The next few days, to my amazement, he went up in the polls. He led her by a large margin in New Hampshire. This was going to be it, he was going to win!
Hillary shocked everyone by winning in New Hampshire. Many said it was over, Obama could not win. Hillary had an amazing comeback. That night I was in complete disbelief.
I kept hoping for a miracle, Super Tuesday was coming up soon.
Unfortunately, she won Nevada. I kept hoping for a double digit win in South Carolina.
When the South Carolina primary coverage was on, I watched it nonstop for about 5 hours. Everyone was really excited. A 28% margin was pretty crazy. I was hoping so much that this was going to reboot his campaign, however I still had my strong doubts.
Next up was Super Tuesday (Florida ended up being just a small obstacle, didn't get much press). Every day I frantically looked for polls. California was the state to watch. Edwards dropped out, but hadn't endorsed yet.
Once again, and for the final time, I had my strong doubts on Super Tuesday.
As it turned out, Hillary DID win those big states Obama was closing in on (California/New Jersey/Massachusetts). The media was quick to say Hillary had won, my newspaper read "Hillary has the edge" the next morning.
Obama's campaign was very smart though. They took advantage of what Hillary and the media ignored: the math, the logic of it all. Obama won many double digit victories that day, many by massive margins. He didn't lose Super Tuesday.
The next month was great. 11 contests, he won all of them. Not only did he win, he won by ridiculous margins EVERYWHERE. Maine, Virginia, Hawaii, Wisconsin, etc.
We have had a few small obstacles since then, mainly the initial media Texas/Ohio attention, as well as Wright.
Look at us now! We are almost guaranteed to do what was impossible a few months ago: win the nomination.
We are even closing in on Pennsylvania! We lead by over 20 in NC which will more than cancel out anything Hillary does in PA!
We got past Wright.
We lead the popular vote, the pledged delegates, the overall delegates, and soon we will lead with the Super delegates.
Not only this, but we lead by DOUBLE DIGITS in both national daily tracking polls. We even beat McCain in both!
I was never very hopeful. Now I am positive he will be our nominee. I am also very confident he will be the next President.
President Obama. Imagine that for the next 8 years. President Barack Obama.
Just imagine it.
Think about how far we have come and will continue to go.
The point of this post, lets just be very thankful for where we are and not get caught up in all the bickering, at least for a few moments. :)
