Charleston (WV) Gazette endorses Obama!
http://wvgazette.com/Opinion/Editorials/200804070537

The Gazette is the largest paper in WV

For the first time since the historic 1960 primary election, the Democratic presidential nomination remains hotly contested as West Virginians prepare to vote. So this state's Democrats and independents may, once again, help decide U.S. history.

We hope they support the brilliant, inspiring, eloquent frontrunner in the race, Barack Obama.

Sen. Obama is a rare figure in U.S. politics - a deep thinker who rises above partisan sniping and makes statecraft seem noble. He raises hope that, after the disastrous Bush years mercifully come to an end, Americans can again be proud of their national leader

Obama appeals to the innate decency in all groups of people, beyond party lines, without personal grandiosity. He fosters a desire to restore America's finest values of honor and fairness

3. Being from WV, this means nothing to the people of WV
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 11:02 PM by amelia
We are people who are very strong minded and we don't vote for someone just because some newspaper endorses a candidate. So don't get your hopes up. It doesn't mean a thing. When was the last time that you voted for a candidate because your newspaper endorsed them? Probably never, just like me.

6. Yep....I don't even vote for a candidate because their husband was President,
either.

10. Yes while true, there is the matter of "why" they endorsed him and what they wrote. I changed my
mind after "reading" couple of articles/endorsements AND doing some research on my own. I was a Clinton supporter but his message resonated with me.

11. I'm originally from WV myself and the Gazette still has influence

7. WV has not been getting much attention, but watch the poll gap tighten there, too.

14. Something in the air here
WV has been blue, just made a mistake the last two go rounds and turned kinda Rovian red.

Our State Chair said "people will be very surprised by the outcome of the WV primary"

And you know what? I thought I was the only Obama supporter in my whole county.
The little town I live in has 283 families, and up the road next house...O supporter, down the road next house..yep...O supporter.

I am surprised but very happy.
