Poll: McCain even with Obama, Clinton
(CNN) — Barack Obama's once double-digit lead over John McCain in a hypothetical match-up has evaporated, according to a just released Associated Press poll.

Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are now statistically tied with McCain, suggesting the Arizona senator may be benefiting from the drawn out Democratic primary race.

In the latest survey, Clinton holds a 48-45 percent lead over McCain while Obama and McCain are even at 45 percent. Factoring the poll's 3 point margin of error, both Democrats are even with the presumptive Republican nominee.

-----------------

A key reason for McCain's rise is the apparent divisions between supporters of Obama and Clinton. Close to a quarter of Obama supporters reported they will back McCain if the Illinois senator fails to get the nomination, while a third of Clinton backers said they'd vote Republican if Obama is the Democratic nominee.

"Among other things, this poll shows that the extended fight for the Democratic nomination is starting to take a toll on the party's prospects in November," said Alan Silverleib, CNN Senior Political Researcher. "The divide between supporters of Clinton and Obama is growing, and the big winner is John McCain."

The comment section proves the point, most of the Hillary supporters there say that they won't vote for Obama.

1. Well, guess what?
Your post is not only stupid and ugly, it's absurd on its face.

Other surveys show McCain beating Hillary Clinton. Know what those surveys are? Meaningless.

Know what the AP survey you excitedly point to here is? Meaningless.

Know what your increasingly desperate posts in opposition to Senator Obama are? Futile.

ability to properly contradict a post one is much better off staying silent than opening their mouth and confirming the fact that they are stupid.

3. Oh please, it's a CNN article.
You act like it was posted by the Freepers. What was interesting to me were the comments of dozens of people who stated that they would rather vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee.

Not much to be said for the "uniter".............

36. Did Obama tell 1/4 of his electorate to vote for McCain?
Why are they ready to jump ship and go from Obama to McCain? We should be concerned about all of these numbers. Democrats are willing to jump ship and elect a warmonger for President simply because their candidate is not the nominee. That is sickening.

6. So let me get this straight ...
Edited on Fri Apr-11-08 01:20 AM by NanceGreggs
"The comment section proves the point, most of the Hillary supporters there say that they won't vote for Obama."

In other words, we should hand the nomination to Hillary (who is losing, BTW) based on the assumption that her supporters won't vote for the winner?

Okay. In view of the above logic(?), we have to consider reconfiguring the primary process. Instead of people democratically voting for their choice of POTUS candidate, we just see whose supporters whine the most - and coronate their choice!

It's just so simple, isn't it - or should I have said "simple-minded"? Of course, the obvious way to end this "division" among Democratic voters would be for the obvious loser to drop out - but that's a whole 'nother story.

Why do I have this horrible feeling that GD-P has become Thanksgiving dinner at the relatives' house, and I somehow wound up seated at the kiddie table?

We think that she's the best candidate, the most prepared and the one who would be a better president. THAT's the reason why we'll fight for her until the end.

26. After Puerto Rico, we'll count our marbles and take it from there.
What's the rush? Let everyone cast their vote and that includes finding a solution for MI & FL. Florida is my seconds state, my mother still lives there. I can tell you right now that if the Democrats there feel disenfranchised, FL will once again go Republican.

27. Well, if Hillary was worried about FL voters ...
... being disenfranchised, I guess she shouldn't have signed a pledge agreeing that they wouldn't be counted. But I'm sure she'll weigh-in any day now with a statement about how she regrets that decision - just like her decision to back the war in Iraq.

What's the rush? Gee, I don't know - maybe that same rush Hill was in to wrap things up on February 5th, whereby everyone wouldn't have had a chance to cast those votes that are suddenly so important to her.

All the pundits who watch these things say so, too. McCain isn't even out there much and media isn't giving him too much attention now. The Dems will rally around our candidate when and IF we ever get past this phase of nominating our candidate!

37. Well yeah, they certainly haven't helped.
The venom spewed at Hillary and her supporters on left wing blogs has made many of her supporters decide that they will not vote for Obama in November.

Personally, that's not my reason for not voting for him. I honestly don't trust him, I think that he's a slick operator with a wafer thin resume who is pandering to the masses. He's an excellent speaker, but so what? Speeches don't create jobs and stop wars.

Hillary is far from perfect, but in her I see someone who knows policy inside out, who's a very hard worker and who would fight for us until her last breath.
