Yes, I am one of those latte liberals, ivy league educated, and well-off voter that supports Obama. But you know what? I am tired of being called an elitist because of it. I have just as much in stake as the blue-collar voter that is struggling in the slowing economy in this election. We all have an equal stake in this election regardless of our background. To say otherwise, makes you the true elitist. Just as much as the blue-collar voter is concerned about the economy, I am concerned about saving the environment and ending the war. I care about the economy and the impact that it is having on workers who are losing their jobs or are facing stagnant wages even if it is not affecting me as much. America is very much like a boat and we are all in this boat together. If one side is hurting more than the other and not paddling as much, the boat and all of us are at risk of capsizing. Let us get rid of the notion that politics should be identity politics.
