Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters backs Obama (thinks Hilary will start a war with Iran)
Hilary can have Elton any day......

http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/article/british%20waters%20blasts%20clinton%20backs%20obama_1065400

Former PINK FLOYD rocker ROGER WATERS is praying U.S. presidential hopeful HILLARY CLINTON doesn't get into The White House - because he's certain she'll start a war with Iran.

The British bassist hopes Clinton's Democrat rival Barack Obama runs against Republican candidate John MCCain in the U.S. general election later this year (08).

And Waters admits that, despite not being an American, he was devastated when Clinton won a recent key primary vote in Texas, keeping her in the Democrat race.

He says, "I'm a huge fan of Barack Obama. I was so disappointed the other night when the ghastly Hillary got Texas and kept the whole thing going. Please God, let's not have this woman.

"Hillary will want to make her mark and show that she can be just as good as a male president, and she will f**king invade Iran. Trust me. She voted to declare the Iranian Republican Guard a terrorist organisation.

"I would buy a whole page in The New York Times and fly Obama's flag. But I would be terribly afraid they'd (Americans) go, 'This is that pinko s**tbag who's attacking our president in a time of war.'"

36. he was referring to this and yes waters is a poet
I've got a little black book with my poems in.
Got a bag with a toothbrush and a comb in.
When I'm a good dog, they sometimes throw me a bone in.

I got elastic bands keepin my shoes on.
Got those swollen hand blues.
Got thirteen channels of shit on the T.V. to choose from.
I've got electric light.
And I've got second sight.
And amazing powers of observation.
And that is how I know
When I try to get through
On the telephone to you
There'll be nobody home.

I've got the obligatory Hendrix perm.
And the inevitable pinhole burns
All down the front of my favorite satin shirt.
I've got nicotine stains on my fingers.
I've got a silver spoon on a chain.
I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains.

I've got wild staring eyes.
And I've got a strong urge to fly.
But I got nowhere to fly to.
Ooooh, Babe when I pick up the phone

theres still nobody home

Saw Pink Floyd as my first ever concert back in 1969 or '70. They were on their Umma-Gumma tour. Quite impressive. I see that this member of the band and I agree once again.

6. The POTUS represents us internationally
so why should non-Americans be denied their opinion about who's elected to the office? Seems to me that in that brief statement, Waters demonstrated that he problably knows more about where Clinton stands on the Middle East than a lot of Americans.

Nobody said opnions not welcome here, by all means spring forth with any and all that you might have, just doesn't mean others will listen or agree. See how easy that is? :)

7. For the thousand times I listened through the whole album "The Wall"
and my second favorite "Radio Kaos", Waters has some credit with me. A light against the darkness, as they say.

I would have been surprised if he sided otherwise, though I am a bit surprised that he sided at all. It wasn't necessary, but it is to his credit.

I have two daughters, I don't care for war or torture, or poverty or hunger. I care for honesty and intelligence, and believe people are fundamentally good. Does a person need greed or gain as a motive to speak?

The Powers That Be: Lyrics Roger Waters :yourock:

The powers that be
They like a tough game
No rules
Some you win, some you lose
Competition's good for you
They're dying to be free
They're the powers that be
They like a bomb proof cadillac
Air conditioned, gold taps,
Back seat gun rack, platinum hub caps
They pick horses for courses
They're the market forces
Nice car Jack
They like order, make-up, lime light power
Game shows, rodeos, star wars, TV
They're the powers that be
If you see them come,
You better run - run
You better run on home

Sisters of mercy better join your brothers
Put a stop to the soap opera right now
They say the toothless get ruthless
You better run on home

You better run - run
You better run on home

The powers that be
They like treats, tricks, carrots and sticks
They like fear and loathing, they like sheep's clothing
And blacked-out vans

Blacked-out vans, contingency plans
They like death or glory, they love a good story
They love a good story

Sisters of mercy better join with your brothers
Put a stop to the soap opera state
They say the toothless get ruthless
Run home before its too late
You better run - run
You better run on home

:kick: & RRRRRRRR

Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 03:51 AM by Bongo Prophet
From his collaboration with the great Ron Geesin, in the soundtrack from "The Body"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwjwP_hB-2A

Breathe in the air
Make for the meadow and savour the grass while it lasts
By and by
Spidery fingers of industry reach for the sky
Brick upon brick, stone upon stone they grow
Choking the atmosphere, oh, so incredibly slowly
Sulphur and carbon and hydrogen sulphide and lime
Fever, corrosion and cover your cities with grime
Something is killing the land before your eyes
And the sunshine
Is not to blame
Could be the insane, inhuman games we play
Day by day
River and fool
Rushing home in a crowd, I'm alone
Close your eyes, lie still
You are a mountain stream and I am a hill
Far, far away
There is a field of blossom and bees and new mown hay
Breathe in the air
Breathe in the air
Breathe in the air
Breathe in the air

Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 06:41 AM by Algorem
Mother, should I trust the government?

Mommas gonna make all of your nightmares come true.
Mommas gonna put all of her fears into you.
Mommas gonna keep you right here under her wing.
She wont let you fly, but she might let you sing.

Ooo babe, of course mommas gonna help build a wall.

Mother, do you think shes good enough,
For me?
Mother, do you think shes dangerous,
To me?
Mother will she tear your little boy apart?
Ooooowaa mother, will she break my heart?

Hush, my baby. baby, dont you cry.
Mommas gonna check out all your girlfriends for you.
Momma wont let anyone dirty get through.
Mommas gonna wait up until you get in.
Momma will always find out where youve been.
Mommas gonna keep baby healthy and clean.
Oooo babe.
Oooo babe.
Ooo babe, youll always be baby to me.

33. Animals
And after a while, you can work on points for style.
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

listen to the lyrics, for your money, Animals is one of the most BITTER albums around.

34. Roger is The Man!
What God wants God gets God help us all
What God wants God gets
The kid in the corner looked at the priest
And fingered his pale blue Japanese guitar
The priest said
God wants goodness
God wants light
God wants mayhem
God wants a clean fight
What God wants God gets
Don't look so surprised
It's only dogma
The alien prophet cried
The beetle and the springbok
Took the bible from its hook
The monkey in the corner
Wrote the lesson in his book
What God wants God gets God help us all
God wants peace
God wants war
God wants famine
God wants chain stories
What God wants God gets
God wants sedition
God wants sex
God wants freedom
God wants semtex
What God wants God gets
Don't look so surprised
I'm only joking
The alien comic cried
The jackass and hyena
Took the feather from its book
The monkey in the corner
Wrote the joke down his book
What God wants God gets
God wants boarders
God wants crack
God wants rainfall
God wants wetbacks
What God wants God gets
God wants voodoo
God wants shrines
God wants law
God wants organised crime
God wants crusade
God wants jihad
God wants good
God wants bad
What God wants God gets

I have been to see Roger Waters in concert twice, and I'd go again in a heartbeat.
Pink Floyd was never the same after he left.

Forward he cried from the rear
And the front rank died.
And the general sat and the lines on the map
Moved from side to side.

obviously not aware that:

Earlier this year, Obama co-sponsored a different bill that also would have designated the Revolutionary Guards Corps a terrorist organization. Obama said he supports the designation...

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!"

...but you may feel a little sick.

Can you stand up (stand up... stand up...)

I do believe it's working! Good.

That'll keep you going for the show.

Come on, it's time to go.

There are few poets/lyricists who can capture the struggle for sanity --not to mention the struggle against insanity-- as well as Waters. I've often wondered how close he was to Syd Barrett, and just how deeply Barrett's madness affected him.

I'm sure living in a crazy world doesn't help.

The man knows insanity when he sees it. And sanity.

Thanks for the assessment, Roger.

I'll make up my own mind, but I appreciate your interest.

pensively,
Bright
