2post threads about democratic candidates other then Barack Obama.

FROM THIS DAY FORWARD LET IT BE KNOW TO FRIEND AND FOE ALIKE THAT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS READY FOR THE TORCH OF LEADERSHIP TO BE PASSED TO A NEW GENERATION! TODAY THE REVOLUTION BEGINS!

10. The name is DU
Obama is the Democrat.
The primary will eventually be over.
Let GD:p reflect that Obama is the Democrat running in the great race.
It is a challenge.
There is no longer a need to bash Obama, or any other Democrat.
There is no need to defend Obama, he can defend himself. Let Obama bashing threads sink. Replace them with pro-Obama threads from page 20 or create new pro Obama OPs.

12. Or...we could allow democracy to work
I do agree that we need to stop the bashing threads. For example of you were to look now at GDP you would see posts about Bill Clinton's affairs. What that has to do with anything is beyond me, except to bash.

You are partially right: why not end the bashing posts? Issues, that is one thing. But blind hatred in the form of bashing posts should end.

19. I am suggesting that Democracy HAS worked
What I am suggesting my friend is that Obama will be our nominee for President.
Lets act like it.
Lets discuss the Obama campaign and brainstorm winning strategies.
No need to reply to Obama bashing (let it sink).
No need to bash Hillary.

There is no need to continue to play the "wait until SUPERGELEGATES tell us its over". We can move the SD forward by moving GD:p forward.

29. Its all over as far a GD:P
All thats posted here is pro-Obama and anti-Clinton. Sure there are a few Hillary supporters and a few disruptors bucking this trend, but the trend is still here.

34. The Hillary-bashing threads are simply irrelevant.
She doesn't run for senate for another 4 years.

The threads bashing our nominee are idiotic. I don't understand why "Democrats" feel that it's a good thing to spew right wing attacks against our own candidate.

Obama will be the nominee.
Lets let the Obama bashing threads sink. Replace them with pro-Obama threads.
The primary will eventually be over.
Lets get DU GD:p to lead the way to end the primary.

8. It is a suggestion
No need to reply to Obama bashing, or to HRC support.
Post pro-Obama threads, let everything else sink.
No need to bash Obama, Hillary, Edwards, or anyone else.
Move forward.
GD:p is already there, almost. There is just a few Hillbots holdout. Let their posts drop while we discuss the Obama candidacy.

18. I can promise it's not flamebait
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 09:59 AM by Asgaya Dihi
mdmc has been around for ages and has generally been one of the more forgiving people on the board, often to his own detriment. I think he's just hoping for the best and wanting the fighting to be done with.

mdmc, a couple of weeks ago I was pushing and hoping that it could end soon too, but it isn't going to happen and at this point I've stopped even trying to convince anyone they should do otherwise. Obama pretty clearly will be the nominee and in the meantime we've got both McCain and Clinton going after him, that is going to hurt our chances to win. We've got every reason to end it but no will to. The harder we push the more stubborn they'll get, sticking around in the end to prove they can't be pushed out as much as anything.

It's damaging, pointless or nearly so, and as far as I can tell totally unavoidable. Has to burn itself out in its own time I guess.

20. thank you my friend
I was looking at GD:p today.
It is almost all pro-OBAMA, and anti-CLINTON.
I thought to myself - we should just like the anti-Obama OPs drop, and focus on strengthening Obama.
It would be easy to do - don't bash Hillary (why bother) and don't reply to anti-Obama threads.

It would be very easy for Obama supporters to do. And it would make GD:p a positive Obama discussion forum.

27. Maybe not intentional famebait but it will become so
I share the sentiment that we should be moving to fight against the GOP but this primary isn't done yet. Telling people that it is will prove to be the spark of the flamebait. I hope I'm wrong, though.

I've been around a while, too.

9. she doesn't need to
I am suggesting that she has no chance of winning, and that GD:p can reflect that, if we are CHALLENGED to do so.

GD:p is almost there - there are 20 pro Obama posts for every 1 pro-Clinton posts. Let the pro-HRC posts drop while continuing to discuss the real campaign - Obama's race for the White House.

The primary will end sometime. I am suggesting that DU moveon

22. It is a suggestion my friend
it is a simple suggestion to make GD:p a pro-Obama discussion forum.

The suggestion is simple -
Don't post bashing Hillary / don't reply to Obama bashing posts (let them drop).

This would make GD:p an Obama friendly discussion forum.

Of course Hillary supporters could post what they want, and kick up OP that they want to see stay on the main page.

I looked at GD:p today. Almost every single OP was either pro Obama or Hillary bashing. I am suggesting that Democrats stop bashing Hillary and continue discussing ways to get Obama in the White House.

I am encouraging Obama supporters to stop bashing Hillary, stop replying to Obama bashing OPs (let Obama bashing OPs sink), and to keep pro Obama OPs kicked.

The primary is gonna be over, let GD:p lead the way.

21. Absolutely not accepted.
I certainly hope that Barack Obama is not going to be our nominee.

I also don't believe that he will win in November if he is.

Both statements apply to HRC, as well.

The party is divided. Neither of those two are going to unite it.

26. The only way out of this debacle that I see now
is a brokered convention with a "compromise" candidate that is neither of the current two.

Unlikely, but it is probably the only scenario that will produce a candidate who can win in November.

33. I can't really argue that.
I think the Democratic Party deserves the mess it finds itself in now, and deserves the candidate she ends up with.

That doesn't do anything to alleviate the bitterness I feel about wasted opportunity, though. :(
