It occurs to me that Hillary is NOT really destroying the Democratic party
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 12:56 PM by burythehatchet
because she knows full well that the Democratic party has already been rendered powerless and effete. She is simply driving down the value in order to acquire it as any good corporatist would. She knows that when the DLC became the power in the party, the DLC Republicrats had already succeeded in destroying the true mission of the Democratic party - representing labor and the middle class. She was part of the assualt on the party. Why would she do anything at this point to prevent the job from being finished.

As I've said before, the primary objective of the DLC is to destroy the Democratic party and then acquire the only remaining asset, the party label.

I don't think I've adequately faced this fact until recently. They are intent on accomplishing this mission. This primary fiasco is the battleground for control of the party. The winners will define what the Democratic party will be heretofore. I don't think the stakes could be any higher.

The Clinton cabal MUST be defeated. I've already decided that if she manages to become the nominee, I will not be affiliated with the Democratic party, but only because it will no longer be the party I signed up with.

1. I agree--if Hillary is the nominee, then I must not really be a Democrat.

2. I agree with you on that. She will get my vote, but with extreme distaste.
The DLC/Clinton way has been a disaster for the democratic party.

People forget that had the republican party not split, there would have been no Clinton administration and the moment the repukes got their shit back together, they showed how stupid and ineffective the Clinton/DLC strategy really is.

3. I Cannot Disagree With You

But I do question the sanity of anyone who thinks there will be anything left of value in the Democratic name if Hillary succeeds in either getting the nomination or in ripping the Party to shreds. Nancy Pelosi, ably supported by Harry Reid (and under orders from Steny Hoyer) has just about sucked all the juice out of the Party.

Obama is not only running a superb campaign in its own right, he's also providing coat tails for like-minded candidates AND keeping the Party alive on life-support in the hopes that we can get it to the emergency room before it's too late.

That's why I can't watch horror movies on TV or in theaters---real life is terrifying enough.

You got it.

With the GOP neutered as a brand after Bush, those who had been buying influence with the GOP for the last 8 years thought they could continue to gorge at the public trough by reinvigorating their old money conduit, the DLC, and started pushing Clinton for the WH.

Happy days were assured, who needed the GOP?

This is the underlying reason Clinton refuses to quit, she and Bill are nothing but high paid employees of these shadowy corporate types, and they've put everything on the line to get her elected.

12. they had (almost) every contingency covered. I know Obama is no guarantee
that this will be averted, but I feel like he is the only hope of that happening.

10. Agreed except for one thing - the Democratic party is not powerless.

It's only now waking up, and Hillary's realizing the people of the Democratic party will not allow it to become the GOP lite.

It's just starting to show it's true form - that of party of the people, and Hillary's going to be shown that a party that truly represents ordinary people will not have a psychopathic, lying elitist as its leader.

14. Which is why the DLC is so unwanted here
Its goal, so far as I can see, it to make the democratic party a lesser offshoot of the republican party. A more colorful diverse version, but politically indistinct.
