People Are Fed Up.
Obama Knows Exactly What's Going On. And it is absolutely pitiful to see anyone here at DU trying to spin this any differently.

When I go around and I talk to people, there is frustration, and there is anger, and there is bitterness and what’s worse is when people are expressing their anger, politicians try to say what are you angry about? … Somebody asked me, well, how are you gonna get votes in Pennsylvania? What’s going on there? We hear that it’s hard for some working class people to get behind your campaign, why is that? I say well, look, they’re frustrated, and for good reason – because for last 25 years, they’ve seen jobs shipped over seas, they have seen their economies collapse, they have lost their jobs, they’ve lost their pensions, they’ve lost their health care, and for 25-30 years Democrats and Republicans have come before them and said we’re gonna make your community better, we’re gonna make it right, and nothing ever happens, and of course they’re bitter, of course they’re frustrated. You would be, too, in fact many of you are… Nobody’s looking out for you, nobody is thinking about you! And so people end up, they don’t vote on economic issues because they don’t expect anybody’s going to help them, and so they end up voting on issues like guns, and you know are they going to have the right to bear arms, they vote on issues like gay marriage and they take refuge in their faith and their community and their families and the things they can count on, but they don’t believe they can count on Washington...

2. I can't believe
That anyone thinks this is insulting, mocking, demeaning or any of the other terms used by the Hillary supporters here.

When they try to attach any of those fraudulent tags to this dead-on accurate assessment they make fools of themselves.

Again, people who live in small towns know this is the truth. They are not stupid.

Any attempt to tell them that either this isn't true or is a slam against them actually insults their intelligence and treats them as if they were children.

If Hillary does indeed launch a major assault against Obama on this, it could blow up in her face.

3. So what is McCain...
telling Obama to apologize for, I suggest that McCain and his partner Hillary don't really know the American people. McCain and romney are campaigning as though they are talking to an audience fifty years ago...

4. I think it is absolutely disgusting that people here are twisting
these words. What Obama said makes sense. It is pathetic that all Clinton can do for her own campaign is distort the true words of others. As a middle-aged white woman who grew up in lower middle class blue collar SW PA, I find HRC revolting. Are people really suppose to believe that she cares more for them because she calls them optimistic and positive. A little reality is a good thing sometimes - best to acknowledge problems instead of just whitewashing them away.

5. I agree, CatsDogsBabies
and thanks so much for your response. I haven't been on DU for a while and I am amazed that DUers are distorting this issue -- sounds just like something the Repugs would do!
