Parkland's been around since the 30s it used to be the hick school with all the farmland. Now there is no farm land just sprawling subburbs so its now a subburban school district. It covers upper macungie, S. Whitehall, and Whitehall.

129. I can tell you...bush has really hurt the GOP in NE...
people are pretty sick of him. The last real supporters of in the GOP ranks are the anti-choice people, and there are plenty of them. When I speak quietly and on the side w/many of them, they are wondering what happened to the PArty of Lincoln...amny call it the Party of Coolidge now. Most are surprised we haven't gone into a full blown depression, and these people are pretty savvy about such things. They all realize, although they'd never admit it publicly, that bush's economic policies are shored up by nothing more than foreign debt...and some of these people are afraid that the "Chinese will own our farms and businesses in the near future."

One other thing I've heard, si that this "hero" stuff about McCain disgusts almost every one of them. While everyone respects McCain's service, (as do I), the big question is "what did he do that was so damned heroic?" They also see him as an extension of bush's policies, and that could well be his death knell.

Habits are hard to change though, and since this state has gone red for so long, it is difficult to project what will happen in the voting booth.

123. Honestly, I doubt it, but I can tell you that over the past couple
of years, I've personally handed out well over 500 voter registrations, I keep a bunch on me at all times when out and about. Over 400 have given them back to me to hand in at the Courthouse...all but 3 have gone D or I...the other 3 went R, (and yes, I turned those in to the courthouse as well). The other 100+, I can't say what the registered as, but I truly hope they sent the forms in. This year has a marked increase in registrations, and I'm happy to say, it is the youth that is stepping up to the plate...:D

As for the local GOP...they are soiling their collective pants. Where this was solid R country, they have lost a lot of support. No one around here likes McCain, but they don't like HRC either, Obama is "iffy" in the GOP circles around here. I have seen some aspects of racism, but that is generally guided to Hispanics...racism is racism to me, regardless of the the perpetrator or the victim, and I fight it wherever I can, but it runs deep in some people...x(

Last cycle, Fortenberry(R), our Rep for this district won by only 7%age points, unheard of prior top this point. And while we have one R and one D in the Senate...w/Hagel leaving this year, a solid D could actually win...:)

One thing that has turned people against the GOP is bush and this war. Almost every community has had people shipped off to this damnable thing, and well over half of the counties have buried at least one casualty. With the seemingly. "I don't give a damn" attitude of the administration, people see McCain as one more insane fool that will drag this on for many a year.

I have to say, that even though the majority of the people of NE are R's, they're pretty damn good people as far as people go. The NE GOP has been trying to "force" them to vote McCain...and a good portion of them are rebelling...a lot of that has to do w/"buyer's remorse" after seeing what bush has done to the country.

126. Omaha and Lincoln could well go D, if they do, the rest of the
state won't matter much.

I thought about running against Fortenberry myself, but it takes a lot of cash and knowing the right people to move forward in the party. If he makes it this time, I'm going to really hammer on the D party and get someone up there that can take that clod out. I think people voted for him just because there's an R after his name...he's a complete moron, never worked an honest day in his life. We used to have Doug Bereuter, another R, but a moderate to a degree, and he held local meetings at least twice a year. Fortenberry has been here twice since he's been in the House, once for a "debate", the other time, he went to the local R meeting up on "satan's hill", where the wealthy live, for a private get together w/the local R bigwigs. I am amazed that anyone supports him...He truly is an idiot.

a lot depends on who shows up in Omaha and Lincoln, and if the majority of R's stay home...:D The ratio out here is about 2:1 in favor of the R's right now, but we're closing in on the #'s. People are truly sick of the GOP after the bush horror...just took them longer to realize it...:)

90. HA!
Funny guy. :D

Small gathering this time -- But seeing as how my aunt cooked all day ( ) it is entirely possible that we just join up with others at a group gathering/restaurant.

Have a great weekend!

Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 08:42 PM by sniffa
Star Wars ended at 8, and my god do I have some gripes about that.

1. If the Storm Troopers are clones of Jango Fett, why are they such terrible shots?

2. If they're clones, why are they all different heights and have different voices?

3. While the Death Star was orbiting Yavin to get in range of the rebel base on the moon, why didn't they just blow up Yavin? The destruction most likely would have taken out the moon, and if not, it would have shortened the trip.

54. My answers for you
1. They're inbred

2. Jango Fett was the original clone, but other "lines" were introduced as the Imperial era went on.

3. The same reason Tarkin wouldn't evacuate and W went into Iraq without an exit strategery: pure arrogant stupidity. If that doesn't work for you, I'll say that the composition of the gas giant would somehow screw up the planet kablooey gun's laser.
