OMG, Obama eats Hamburgers with a Fork and Knife!

I was watching some cable news clip or something (I don't remember) and they were showing stock footage of Obama eating at a fancy restaurant and there was a hamburger on his plate. And it looked like he was about to eat it with a fork and knife! Did anyone see that? What a snob!

He limited himself to a couple of bites of chocolate that day, probably because he had to eat something at every freaking campaign stop across Pennsylvania. Those beers, pretzels, cheesesteaks, chocolate, PA-Dutchy food, Eastern European-via-PA food, etc. would make him look like Huckabee BEFORE the diet if he ate a full helping at every little dive along the trail.

... cuz once the bun/roll falls apart on ya (or when an overstuffed sub drops bits on your plate), you'd have to pick up all the little oniony, tuna-y, soggy, honey-mustard-y bits with your fingers if utensils are absent. I get a little plastic knife and fork when I know there's a chance I'll have to pick up the little bits.

Although they are the "bunless" variety to save the carbos. Never seen anyone actually eat a real, classic-style burger with a fork and knife; that's actually kind of bizarre, like picking up your steak with your fingers and gnawing on it.

Selfsame S.O. tells an anecdote about visiting London with his parents as a young teen. Went on a double-decker bus tour where they served a fried chicken boxed lunch. The tour gave them real silverware for the chicken! He and his mom just picked it up and ate it the way they always did. The British passengers abandoned the cutlery and followed suit.

Having later heard the classic Ann Landers story on this subject, he was never certain whether they were being hospitable and polite to the Yanks or just relished the chance to lick their greasy fingers.
