The link above is to an amazing video, from Fox News nonetheless... of a long-time PA resident affirming what Obama said. While I do not like Fox, it's probably the most-viewed network in rural PA.

I believe this is more indicative of what the real feelings are in PA. Here's why:

Furthermore, I spend 1-2 weeks every year in the Allegheny region of PA. I'm actually headed there in June again. It's about as rural as you get. While there, I often go to a small-town bar. You can hear the talk and conversations outside before you enter. The locals know the locals and it's a seen out of a movie when I and two or three of my friends enter. The room gets quiet. You get looked at and stared at for a bit with glares. I half expect to be told "We don't take kindly to your kind here." If we stay for a few drinks, conversations will start up, but the room never gets as loud as it was before we entered. When we leave, it's almost as if the volume is instantly turned back on as we step outside. Outside, every truck has a gun rack. Yes, the people are bitter. And they are smart. They have had to survive through extremely tough times. And they know exactly why their times have been tough. They recognize the faux outrage, lies and hypocrisy of Clinton. They have been let down by both the Clintons and the Bushes. They have been betrayed by their government.

Another amazing moment was seeing Carville of all people defend Obama this morning on MTP. He would not say ill against him on the issue, which I thought was incredible (he did have his wife beside him though who pulled no punches for Obama *or* Hillary).

3. Obama's comments show that he has been talking with and listening
to the locals.

Thanks for your assessment. I now live in one of those small towns and this is the way it is. I'm working at the polls on April 22. I'm sure I will hear quite a bit....

6. I actually think Hillary had the right to attack Obama on his comments...
Because Obama was trash talking the Clinton administration. She should have defended that time and called Obama comments into question.

But, as always, Hillary went nuclear. Her comments are way, way overboard and super negative.

And what happens when Hillary goes on the attack? Her numbers plummet.

People don't like this side of her.

If Obama keeps his dignity through this exchange, Dems will continue to flock to him.

8. I think you are on to something. When Hillary attacks, she doesn't carry it well
When I say that, it's not because she is a woman but because her personality is just not that likable to people in general. Many women can get away with attacking but Hillary cant. Her numbers do seem to drop when she goes on the attack.

11. She should have a surrogate attack while she stays positive. But instead, she leaps into the shit.
And guess what? She ends up looking dirty and smelling bad.

Clearly, they needed to nip Snipergate 2 in the bud but she's hurt herself by thinking she can be the weapon.

29. Good point about trash talking the Clinton admin
If she had any sense, she would have refuted those remarks. But then again, if she had any sense she wouldn't have run such a crappy campaign. Here's hoping it is over on April 23rd so we can concentrate on running against McSame

7. PA White women begin to turn away from Clinton
LEVITTOWN, Pa. — Like many women over 50, Paula Houwen was eager to vote for Hillary Clinton for president.

"I was impressed when she was first lady. She wasn't the country's trophy wife," the 56-year-old suburban Philadelphia pharmacist recalled.

Today, though, Houwen's no longer a Clinton fan.

"I do not like the way Hillary Clinton has run her campaign," she said.

Clinton's strongest core of support — white women — is beginning to erode in Pennsylvania, the site of the critical April 22 Democratic presidential primary, and a loss here could effectively end her White House run.

A Quinnipiac University survey taken April 3-6 in Pennsylvania found that Clinton's support fell 6 percentage points in a week among white women. Nationally, a Lifetime Networks poll of women found that 26 percent said they liked Clinton less now than in January, while only 15 percent said they liked her more.

"These are Democratic women who waited all their lives for a woman president, but Hillary is not turning them on," said polling analyst Clay Richards.

15. Blowback is here today.
Hillary seems to believe her word twisting and parsing is invisible
to everyday voters. She treats the electorate like village idiots. Truth is
the only people carrying this bitter convolution are Clinton deadenders
and the media; who both have an interest in manufacturing as much
controversy as they can. The people of Pennsylvania and this country are
not dumb... and they don't take kindly to the sort of crass manipulation
The Clintons are trying to pull. Hillary may figure she can fool some of the people
some of the time... but she's forgotten the age old corollary that they will
forever resent her for it.

16. A little anecdote here
My mom works at a University and her boss is a big time Hillary supporter. My mom is an Obama supporter by the way. My mom doesn't bring up politics with her, they are good friends. My mom was taking aback when they went to lunch right after Ohio and Texas and her boss was bragging about Hillary Kind of rubbing it in. My mom was a little angry because when Obama was on his winning streak she never mentioned it to her. Well this week her boss came in told her she was thoroughly disgusted with Hillary and is now an Obama supporter can't stand how in her Boss's word how "dirty" Hillary campaign's been. Not that this means much that we're in California and we already voted but its still amazing

Another one from my mom, she has a friend whose brother is dying from cancer, she changed from Hillary to Obama. Her brother said that was the best thing she could have done for him

I also met my first outright Hillary supporter, on my campus in the History department we don't have any, it was at my ex-wifes birthday party. One of her friends said she won't vote for a black man besides he'll be shot anyway. I didn't argue thought some choice words but kept them to myself but to be fair My ex's brother who is 20 said he would never vote for a woman, so idiots run on both sides

22. What he said was stupid
Using the words bitter and clinging and suggesting that voting on the basis of your religion equates to voting against illegal immigration was stupid. Only fools sit around and pretend that there was nothing wrong with what he said. It was not a truthful statement in anyway, and he himself realizes that.

You guys can continue to pretend that Obama has never made a mistake but in the real world we know this statement was a mistake. He has admitted as much.

He is running for president, he needs to choose his words more carefully. Not everyone in this country is blinded by the Obama light. There are many who are still trying to judge him as a candidate, and making statements that lend themselves to be misunderstood or misconstrued is a big mistake.

26. obama new campaign sign soon forthcoming:
obama standing there with his head held high or is it nose held high and underneath the following words:

SNOB:
IT'S AN ELITIST THING
YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND.

Today, Obama is trying to put a spin(AGAIN) on his own recent words and make it look like he is a victim. He is trying to get the media to report that he only said the people in PA are bitter and they have a right to be. Sorry Obama, it is not going to work.

You said:

“And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

These are YOUR words, not guilt by association like Rezko, Ayers, Wright and the others, this is YOUR view, words out of YOUR mouth. Obama, did you say you were sorry? Nope, you tried to act like it is Hillary’s fault then tried to blame it on McCain. You stood by what you said and acted arrogantly about it. There is NO SPIN on this, Obama, you said it, you meant it and you should apologize for it, not try and blame other people for it. This one is on YOU Obama! Stop trying to spin it like you actually care for the people, like you are a victim as these words say something totally different. These are NOT “just words.’

TIME FOR YOU TO GO OBAMA
