It's the accumulted effect of Obama's faux pases and revelations that are sinking his candidacy.
There were the revelations about Rev. Wright, Obama's father figure; there was Michelle's comment about never being proud of America until Obama did well in Iowa; there was Michelle's ethnocentric, black power college dissertation; there's the clip of Obama standing with his arms at his side while everyone else has theirs on their hearts during the playing of the national anthem; there was Obama's reference to his grandmother as being a "typical white woman." With each revelation a more detailed picture of Obama being a ethnocentric, elitist is emerging. The furthest Obama can reach now is winning the nomination, giving the presidency to the Republicans. He'll never be president. He just can't keep his true thoughts hidden. They keep slipping out. The Democrats made a big mistake banking on this guy. He just doesn't represent enough Americans, and even he would probably agree privately that he has little in common with most Americans, and is probably proud of it.

12. Exactly what Tuesday Afternoon states in her/his post.
Sticking your head in the sand is no way to win. Obama keeps handing the Republicans more and more ammunition to use against him, and it's the kind that works in this country. It's hard to imagine how Obama wins the presidency at this point, that is if you're thinking objectively and haven't drank the Obama Koolaid.

Thinking the opposition and swing voters don't notice is what is going to nuke the party... again.
This election isn't in a vacuum, and our candidates haven't been vetted early enough.
Wright just added to the burden as well. It'd be nice if he kept his mouth shut and went away.
Obama wasn't challenged early and now we have damaged goods leading thus far.
It ain't over... I hope someone else gets the nomination. Hillary is better.
At least she knows how to play hardball.

Rich White people who are millionaires 100 times over do not have the standing to call Obama an elitist.

50. Liberal elite:
This is why Hillary is going after him on it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberal_elite

Liberal elite:
In the US, the term is most often applied to residents of the Northeast (especially New England, New York City and the rest of the BosWash area) and the West Coast (especially the San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle areas), who often hold advanced college degrees and are politically left-leaning.
It is considered a political disadvantage for a campaigning US politician to be associated in the minds of the electorate with the "liberal elite" because they would then seem to be not only out of step with mainstream opinion, but also privileged, and therefore unfamiliar with the concerns of the typical American voter. Thus it is often used by many politicians to apply to their left-leaning opponents if they also live an affluent or upscale lifestyle.

about imaginary Democratic sexism, all the while opening your own mouths wider and revealing your racist underpinnings.

And it's beyond funny that you decry that "He just can't keep his true thoughts hidden.", AS IF THAT WERE A VIRTUE! People are sick of calculated politicians like Clinton who keep their true thoughts hidden, especially when she, like the OP, chooses standard right-wing talking points to hide behind.

He's lying. He was responding to a question about why he's having a hard time with white, rural, blue-collar workers. His response was arrogant, and insulting to a large number of good Americans. And many of them vote. The only reason he would do this to himself and the Democratic Party is either pure stupidity or pure arrogance, and I don't think he's stupid.

66. Yes and that's why you should vote for Hillary
because she can't win on the issues or character.

76. Thanks. Yes, I'm seeing that Repubs aren't the only ones comfortable w/their heads in the sand.
The Democrats were in the process of winning over many disillusioned former Bush voters. An Obama candidacy will send them all running back to the comfortable folds of the Republican Party. Democrats don't know how to win because they can't adequately analyze America's political landscape. I've read endless variations of, "There's no way the Democrats can lose." It's that kind of attitude that will cause any competitor to lose a competition.

79. We'll see. I think the Democrats have screwed themselves.
At a time when we can't afford another Republican in the White House. But the odds of that are increasing with each passing day, and don't blame Hillary for not dropping out. That's our process. Blame the Democrats for not knowing how to choose a winning candidate, with a lot of help from the ever-meddlesome news media.

82.  i guess we should`t have voted for obama in illinois
after all keyes was such a formidable opponent...70% to 27%! out of 102 counties in illinois obama lost 9..

obama won`t get those numbers in the general but i`m going with 55% to 45%...

obama spoke for a hell of a lot of republicans in this state.. he`s going to speak to enough republicans to win the general election.

83. Dadgum Democratic voters...
We should've known that more than half of the Democrats can't pick a winner, afterall we are the party who loves defeat. Does that explain your defeatist attitude?

Since you seem convinced he can't win, can you explain how Hillary can?? Before she ever got started her level of support was maxed out. She was painted by the Republicans as "divisive" and "polarizing" and their labels worked. Do you think that they won't drag up all of the Clinton's dirty laundry, with a fresh new Snuggle scented list of things the public hasn't been aware of about them since they left office? They both have a good fight, no matter who is the nominee because power has to be wrested away. I can absolutely guarantee you that if we ran Jesus H. Christ himself, Republicans would call him a socialist, and "elitist" because to them, apparently, smart = elitist. And if you say Obama can't win because he's offended large blocs of voters, then I say Hillary can't, because she's done the same. So, I guess we should just forfeit now, and coronate McCain. OR, we could stop buying into the false arguments they're using, when in all actuality, they are peeing their pants because of the infighting going on within their OWN party. McCain was the best they could do, and they aren't happy about it, no matter what CNN tells the public.

91. He's got some heavy baggage that's for sure that isn't easy to get rid of
especially when he claims to be the champion of hope and change. He is a complete disaster when off script (similiar to Bush) and it is a given that the Republicans will exploit his words and actions in the GE. Last night's Compassion Forum on CNN, I was looking forward to listening to the thoughts of both Hillary and Barack on the issue of faith and politics but what totally turned me off is that Baracks answers were incoherent. He never directly answers a question, he rambles it seems like his thoughts are elsewhere and he dances around the questions while changing the subject. I wonder what he really believes.
